Author's Pov

Alec stared at the picture he had kept on his table for over the last 5 years and never thought of removing it until today. The girl he hugged near his chest while smiling widely was the source of his once peace, but today watching her face settled an uneasy feeling in him. He loved her, he did. But for the past year his love seemed to be shifted to the woman who he considered to be the culprit of killing his heart once.

3 years ago, Alec was supposed to get married to his fiance, Kira, they were engaged for over two years as she wanted to make her career as a model, Kira was Laira's cousin and Alec loved her a lot, he knew he was destined to be her husband until that unfortunate night. The plane in which Kira was supposed to fly to another country for her project crashed and they only got the news that none of the passengers survived.

And that wasn't the end, while mourning for her, Alec found her diary and got to know that Kira wasn't flying for any project, she was running away, she didn't want to be with him anymore as she got to know Laira loves him. Kira claimed in her diary and Laira was crazy about him and was willing to do anything to cancel their marriage, she even confessed that Laira had threatened to fake evidence to claim that Kira cheated him so the wedding would be called off.

Alec saw red! He needed Laira to pay the pain his love suffered, even though he didn't believe that diary at first as he never got any signals that Laira liked him until the night before the day wedding he proposed her to marry him to test her, and she confessed. She told him, she had always loved him but as he wanted Kira so she never intervened, she told him the same story Kira had written in her Diary.

Laira did accuse Kira of cheating and told him that she had the evidences as well, but Alec had nothing but revenge in his mind. The moment they got married he ignored everything given by her, be it the evidences or the fact that Laira always tried to show her care to him. She even in her foolish love went against her parents who tried to take her away after seeing the mistreatment from Alec but Laira told them off claiming that she will win him over one day.

She realised how blind she was, she endured everything in the name of love, his mistreatment, abuse, even him flaunting other escorts to the parties where his wife was invited just to punish her, she went through everything just for him to come along but the time the blindfold finally fell off, it was too late. The realization came too late.

In the battle of winning over him, she lost even herself.

Alec entered the room where he had locked her finding her sitting on carpeted ground with her back resting against the bed, her face was lost and eyes were busy in staring at the ground with nothing but emptiness, Alec let out a heavy sigh before placing his coat on the couch and making his way towards her. Crouching in front of her, his massive body towered over her gazing deeply at her pale face.

"What are you thinking?" He mumbled making her blink her eyes a few times.

"Reminiscing the wonderful journey I lived with you." Her sarcastic mocking voice pricked him but reminding himself that she wasn't at her best condition right now.

"You skipped lunch, I am not letting you skip the dinner, get up the food is ready." With that he stood up waiting for her to oblige his words like she always did but this time she completely ignored him.

"I said get up!" He raised his voice a bit which made her to look at his face.

"Have you opened the evidence I gave you?" He frowned harder before sighing out.

"What evidence?"

"About Kira's cheating, did you open it?" Alec scoffed, they hadn't discussed this matter the night he strictly lied her that the evidences were false and he knew.

"Even if I didn't, we both know what the truth is!" Laira chuckled in pure helpless as she steadily stood up before staring at him with the utmost disgust he hadn't witnessed in her eyes before.

"You bastard! So you lied to me that you saw the evidence, you just don't believe me!" Alec bit his inner cheek glaring at her for cursing him.

"Watch your tongue, Laira!" If it would be the old Laira she would have coward back in fear but this new one didn't, she gritted her teeth before matching his glare.

"You're a bastard! Alec Gerald! If you had listened to my words and opened that evidence it would have saved me from three years of pain that I suffered from your filthy hands!" Grabbing her arms in tight grip he pulled her near him making her tiptoe.

"Shut up! Who are you fooling? I know the truth already, I am here trying to be gentle with you, I have already decided to leave the past to past now, you're a culprit and it would never change but i still want to try a real married life with you now. For me, for you and for our child, I want to make a good household, a loving one!" Laira narrowed her eyes at him in pure disbelief.

"A family? Loving one? Where that bullshit is coming from? You think I would want to make a family with the man who tortured me for something I never did!"  She roughly pushed his hands away before coughing out.

"Let me make it clear to you Alec Gerald! I don't love you anymore, that wasn't a love in the first place anyways, and I will never make a family with a monster like you!" Alec glared at her for a few seconds before a small smirk appeared over his face.

"You will, you have to! You're already pregnant with my child, and I am ashamed to accept that I actually have grown feelings for a scheming woman like you. And you have succeeded in having your place in my heart, and my wife, remember it," He raised his hand palming her cheek as he leaned his face closer to hers.

"Ask for a divorce I will end your parents, try to leave me, I will paralyse the whole body of that little lovers of yours!" Her breathing accelerated when he kissed her cheek before pulling away whispering further.

"You can live with only me, I am never letting you go." With that he pulled back and was about to walk in the wardrobe when her voice halted him.

"Then I gladly choose to die." Alec paused gritted his teeth, he didn't like this new version of her but he knew a little love from his side she will eventually come around.

"Come downstairs for the dinner." He was about to open the door dropping the idea of changing the clothes, until her voice once again halted him.

"I just have one request from you, if you still have the envelope I gave you, open it and see the evidence. Even if you wouldn't believe me, just do that for once." With that she walked past him leaving the room first leaving the man in deep thoughts. Even though he didn't believe her and he knew the evidences wouldn't do a shit but if it would give her some solace then fine.

He would finally open that envelope he hadn't even touched for the last three years.
