A/N : I was supposed to post on Tuesday, but the place I am at the moment doesn't have very good Wifi. I'm also quite busy so the next chapters will come next Tuesday instead of Saturday.
You push open the bathroom door with a breathless sigh. You didn't know it was possible, but this morning you woke up even more exhausted than the day before. Hajime had to come and pull you out of bed so that you found the strength to get up. Emotional exhaustion adds to that of your body, exhausted by all these thoughts. The prospect of returning to work this afternoon turns your stomach. It's rare that you find yourself in such a state. You don't want to move at all.
When you enter the dining room, Hajime is already waiting for you there, next to your breakfast. You sink into a chair, breathing a sigh of relief. Your body makes you feel like you've run a marathon even though the only thing you've done is wash.
You greet each other briefly and Hajime lets you start eating before starting the conversation.
"So?"
You give him an annoyed look over your bowl of rice. You suspected that you were going to undergo interrogation regarding your date the day before. But all the answers you have prepared in your mind seem very distant to you now.
"'D' ot like him."
Hajime frowns.
"How so?"
You click your tongue in annoyance and tilt your head, looking like you're saying "I just told you." Hajime gives you a look of reproach which ends up making you drop your chopsticks to sign with both hands.
"He is egocentric and rude. I couldn't place a word all evening!"
You accentuate your facial expression gestures more than evocative. The frustration and annoyance generated by this memory accumulates like a pond in your mind.
"Maybe he was just stressed. You should give him a chance."
The outraged look you give him in response is worth more than any words.
Hajime sighs, putting his head in his hands. You blame yourself for causing him so much stress, but on the other hand, you refuse to jump into the arms of the first person to please him. You wait for Hajime to look up at you to respond.
"I have standards."
Hajime grimaces, sighing.
"Are you going to make me believe that out of the twelve guys I introduced to you, none were up to the task?"
You have a second of hesitation. There weren't only bad guys in the lot, it's true. But in the end, you never felt the slightest spark in their presence. Anything that crossed the line of friendship made you uncomfortable. But you don't think it's a good idea to tell Hajime about it. You don't want to add another block to the pile of "things that are wrong with you".
