A/N : Sorry for not being able to post sooner. I'm trying to find a school that won't make me repeat a class for the third time and it's a bit complicated since I left the traditional school system. 🙂🔫 (I fucking hate French school system.) Also a lot of shit is happening in my country right now (politically speaking) and it doesn't help the roller coaster that is my mental health.

(Sorry if I am more violent in my author notes than usual. I'm a bit on edge if you didn't notice. 😅)

Anyway, thank you for your patience. :)

It was the rays of the sun that woke you up in the morning.

You open your eyelids painfully, stunned by the pain that almost immediately spreads through your muscles. Your body is numb and your head feels heavy.

You roll over onto your back with a groan. You don't have time to wonder where you are as memories of the day before assail you like a tsunami. This painful torrent of images makes you want to go back to sleep immediately. But the pain that woke up with you chases away the last rays of sleep.

You prop yourself up on your elbows to look around you. A weight against your stomach makes you look down. Soraya curled up against you during the night. Her eyelids are closed and her chest rises regularly, she is still sleeping. The trails of dried tears that appear on her cheeks tighten your heart in a painful contraction.

Carefully, you shift her to the side so you can get up without waking her. She lets out a disgruntled little squeak before rolling into a ball on her other side to continue sleeping. You bite your lip to keep from laughing. She reminds you of a kitten when she reacts like that.

You collect the metal part of your cochlear implant, praying that it won't be damaged by sleeping with it. Fortunately that doesn't seem to be the case.

You stand up as best you can without putting too much weight on your injured leg, then unzip the tent. You extricate yourself as best you can from the pile of fabric, taking care to close it behind you.

Usagi looks up when she hears you arrive. You give her an awkward wave without really knowing what to do.

You're not sure she'll keep you with her. After all, she seems perfectly capable of fending for herself. You would only be a burden to her and no one likes to be in the way.

However, she saved you. It's this ambivalence in her behavior that disturbs you. You don't know which foot to dance on. Should you pack your things and leave right away, or are you allowed to stay a little longer?

You will quickly be convinced by asking her directly.

You take a slow step towards her. She is sitting on the floor, a familiar-looking book in her hands. Looking at it you see that it is the mini-dictionary of Japanese sign language, given to you by your mother years ago. The same one that was in your bag.
