Where do I begin?

This album is musically ingenious! It portrays what real-world love can be like. In this 2019, Grammy-winning album, Tyler, The Creator tells the story of a love triangle between him, his male crush, and his male crush's female love interest.

Starting with "Igor's Theme", a sustained synth-bass note plays followed by a classic sample of Head West's "Attention". The synth note at the beginning may not seem relevant now, but trust me, it will come into relevance soon.

Coming in second, "Earfquake" is a beloved song that was very popular on TikTok. Playboi Carti has an uncredited appearance in this song. This song is so fun to listen to! It's a feel-good vibe with good lyrics and a good beat.

Next up, "I Think", is also one of my all-time favorites. I think it has a great sound. The chorus, of course, hits a different way. "I think I'm fallin' in love... This time I think it's for real..." To me, it portrays a mixture of emotions, anticipation, fear, anger, frustration, happiness, all of it!!! 

A bridge between the previous and next song, "EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM, YOU END UP CHASING." Is just a quick excerpt of Tyler explaining that no matter how much you run from something, eventually, you'll be chasing it. 

Another one of my favorites, "NEW MAGIC WAND" is yet another great song on this album. Tyler begins to get desperate for his love interest to reciprocate his feelings. And feeling like he's not getting 50/50. It's truly him kind of descending into a sort of madness bc he's not getting what he wants.

"A Boy Is A Gun" Is yet another classicly awesome song on this album, he bashes his love interest and basically says, "fine, if you won't love me, fuck you then!" and it really shows how betrayed you can feel when someone doesn't love you back, especially when you thought they did. 

Then, "Puppet" is a song that shows how he still feels emotionally attached to his love interest. He feels controlled by this person and will do anything for this person. It really shows how even when you hate someone, if you loved them long enough,  they will still continue to "haunt" your future actions and thoughts.

"What's Good" Is Tyler revealing that he now fully hates this love interest for messing up his mental state and emotional state. He pretty much cusses him out and gives him a big and personal "fuck you." His eyes are now open to the truth that he was just being used by this person.

"Gone, Gone/Thank You" This song is such a cute vibe with some meaningful undertones. He talks about how is love is gone for this now ex-interest. He basically wishes him well and says that he will always be better than his ex-interest's lover. Then at the end, he thanks the interest for being there, but he says he NEVER wants to fall in love again.

In second to last, "I Don't Love You Anymore" The title is pretty self-explanatory. He's trying to move on, but he does have some setbacks. But he tries to tell himself he doesn't love his ex-interest anymore and now he wants to move on.

AND FINALLY!!! "ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?" THIS SONG IS WHAT PULLS IT ALL TOGETHER AND GIVES IT A NICE LIL BOW ON TOP OF IT! He basically remembers all the good times he had with his ex-love interest. So now he asks him, "Are we still friends?" and he realizes that being friends again may be "fatal" in the sense that he'll fall in love again. But he doesn't care. "Don't get green skin, keep contact and.. don't say 'goodbye. smell you laterrr'" He wants to stay friends. But at the very end of this song, he says, "Can't say goodbye" and proceeds to scream. I believe this is Tyler having almost like a panic attack in the sense that doing this could be self-destructive. Then the song ends ON THE SAME SYNTH NOTE THAT STARTS "Igor's Theme"!!! THIS IS FUCKING GENIUS!!!!! If you repeat the whole album, the synth note carries you right back to the start without any sound gaps. The cycle of love NEVER ENDS FOR HIM!!!! 

In conclusion, this album was absolutely GENIUS!!! I find it to be my go-to breakup album. Tyler deserves so many awards for this album and I hope it gets a gold vinyl!!
