When your whole life revolves around academic validation, you kind of lose it when someone else comes into your life and takes that amazing feeling of always getting the best grade from you.

I'm the type of person that always strikes for the best, being a competitive being. I always want the best grade, I always want my house, Ravenclaw, to win any tournament. I just have that competitiveness in my blood.

I was always the best when it came to grades, known as the brilliant mind of Hogwarts. It's safe to say that I didn't like it one bit when Mattheo Riddle came to school and stole that title from me.

Since last year, it has not been easy to be top of the class. Mattheo noticed my faces and frowns whenever I got told that I was the second best grade of the class, and he was the first. He would always give me that cocky smirk that made me want to slap it out of his face.

He knew what he was doing and he liked it, which lead me to obviously disliking him. The few times we exchanged words, it always ended with me getting furious. He just knew how to piss me off, and today was no different.

Because of his smart mouth, we are both sitting alone in a classroom that we are supposed to clean. He got us detention. We got back our Ancient History exams graded today, and just like I suspected, I was second to him.

When I was getting back to my seat with my exam in my hand, he decided it would be funny to tell me 'how does it feel to always be second to me?' And I swear I was going to strangle him right there.

Long story short, we started arguing and arguing turned into me yelling at him. Our professor cut us off before it got any worse, giving us two hours of detention in this classroom, to clean it and to apparently, 'work out our differences.'

I was currently sat on the last desk of the left row of tables, reading a Charms book. His cocky ass was also sat on the last desk, but on the right row, a long distance separating us.

He got here two minutes ago and took a seat, lighting up a cigarette as he had his legs spread and his arms folded over his chest, lifting one hand occasionally to take the cigarette out of his mouth to exhale the smoke.

I can't believe he hasn't even apologised. I know he won't do it but part of me wants him to beg for forgiveness. I had never gotten detention until today, and it was his fault. He just kept smoking and acting like I was not in the room, which was starting to bug me.

"Can you stop smoking? The smell is awful." I snap as I raise my head from my book and look at him with a pretty done expression on my face. The smell doesn't actually bother me, but I just want to argue with him. He makes me so mad, I just want to scream and fight with him.

"Cry me a river, Sins." He says as he doesn't even bother to look at me, taking a puff from the cigarette. I hate the way my last name sounds coming from him. He always called me Sins, never by my name. It's like he doesn't even consider me a normal person.
