Kuroo studied the girl who occupied the passenger's seat next to him in his car, the red light of the traffic light illuminating her face.

He knew she had cried.

It was noticeable.

Not that she was trying to hide the fact though...

Tetsurō sighed to himself before he turned his attention back to the road, driving off when the traffic light turned green.

He had asked Y/n if she was going home by herself, to which she nodded her head yes. Tetsurō immediately offered her a ride, that Y/n kindly declined.

But he insisted, and so she stepped into his car, slouching down in her seat.

The entire car ride had been completely silent. Even the volume of the radio had been turned down.

But really, what was there to talk about?

It was obvious that something had happened, and it was also clear that she was in no mood to talk about whatever it was.

But that was beside the point.

They didn't even knew each other that well...

"You missed a turn..."

Kuroo's eyes widened slightly, his grip on the steering wheel tightening.

That was the first thing she had said the entire ride...

"I know." Kuroo nodded his head. "I figured we could stop by a drive through and get something to eat..." He spoke cautiously, turning his head the slightest to take a glance at Y/n.

"Oh..."

"-If that's alright with you, ofcourse" Kuroo quickly added, chuckling awkwardly before averting his gaze back to the road.

"I don't mind..." Y/n answered, her voice low and soft.

"Great..." Tetsurō grinned. "Cause I'm STARVING-"

He eyed Y/n, looking at her from the corner of his eye.

She had a small grin that was plastered on her face, rolling her eyes before turning her head to stare out the window.

Kuroo chuckled lightly to himself, glad that he could ease her up at least a little bit.

"Do you know what you want to order?" Kuroo asked Y/n as he joined the others in line to order.

"No, I'm good." Y/n pressed her lips together and forced a smile, Kuroo furrowing his eyebrows together in confusion.

"What?" He asked her, turning his head to look at her.

"I'm not really hungry..." Y/n mumbled, fidgeting with the rings on her fingers before turning her head to look out the window again.

Kuroo sighed, rubbing his eyes before speaking up. "You sure?"

"Yea..." Y/n answered, her voice low. "I'm sure."

"Okay..." Tetsurō nodded his head in understanding.

He wanted to break the tension in the car while they waited for their turn in line, but making small talk would be even more awkward than the current silence.
