Maximilian and Leonid's peaceful interlude was short-lived, as the sound of horseshoes echoed through the glade, growing louder with each passing moment. They exchanged a knowing glance, their hearts racing in unison.

"It's time to leave," Maximilian whispered, his voice laced with urgency.

Leonid nodded, his eyes scanning their surroundings. "We can't stay here anymore."

They dressed quickly, their movements swift and silent. As they prepared to depart, a figure emerged from the shadows, his eyes fixed on Maximilian with an unnerving intensity.

"You're coming with me, Maximilian," the stranger growled, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.

Maximilian's instincts screamed warning, but he stood firm, his love for Leonid giving him the courage to face the unknown.

"I'm not going anywhere," he declared, his voice steady.

The stranger sneered, his eyes glinting with malice. "We'll see about that."

With a flick of his wrist, he summoned a group of armed men, who surrounded Maximilian and Leonid. The lovers exchanged a desperate glance, their hearts heavy with foreboding.

In that moment, they knew they had to escape, to flee the town and its dangers, to find a place where their love could flourish without fear of persecution.

With a fierce determination, they broke free from their captors, their swords clashing in a flurry of movement. They fought side by side, their love and trust in each other guiding their blades.

As they emerged victorious, they mounted their horses, their eyes fixed on the horizon. They knew that their journey would be long and treacherous, but they were ready to face whatever lay ahead, as long as they were together.

With a final glance at the town they left behind, they spurred their horses into a gallop, their hearts pounding with excitement and fear, their love shining like a beacon in the darkness.

As they rode, the wind whipping through their hair, they felt a sense of freedom they had never known before. They were no longer bound by the shackles of society's expectations, no longer forced to hide their love.

They rode towards a new dawn, a new beginning, a new life together. And as the sun rose over the horizon, they knew that their love would conquer all, no matter what lay ahead.

Their journey was just beginning, but they were ready, their hearts full of hope and their spirits soaring with the knowledge that they would face whatever came their way, side by side, forever.

I always feel terrible doing this to them.
