It was raining heavily at the Sunrise Orphanage when two figures hurriedly went to the doorstep and slowly put a small bundle of fabric near the door while giving a goodbye kiss until they heard something and quickly left to lure them from the Orphanage. Inside the orphanage house, all the lights were turned on while the staff were busy cleaning and going somewhere. All the children were asleep inside the room as the maid was taking care of them.
All of a sudden, a knock being heard at the door. The maid went toward to the door and open, revealing there was nobody. The maid start to feel confused when she heard a small sound on the outside floor. She look down and gasps when she saw something.
Meanwhile, inside the office, a woman sat on the chair, reading some file or newspaper while drinking a tea. Her name is Ueno Reika, the head of the Sunrise Orphanage. She has long silver hair, light green eyes and her skin was fair while she was wearing a long red maroon coat, white turtleneck shirt and grey trouser.
She was reading peacefully when the knocked was heard at her door.
"Come in," she said while keeping the files away and folding the newspaper when the maid came in. "What is it?"
"Mrs Ueno, there's something you need to see," the maid said while Mrs Ueno sighs tiredly, "If it's the landlord or something, tell them I'm busy with my work."
"Actually, it's not," the maid corrected her which Mrs Ueno looked at her in confusion. "Then what is it?" She questions the maid's answer, "There's a baby at the doorstep."
"What?" Mrs Ueno quickly stood up and rushed out from her office while the maid followed her. She walked down from the downstairs and walked toward where all the maids and staff are.
"Where's the baby?" Mrs Ueno demands as one of the maids walk toward her with a baby in her arms. Mrs Ueno pulled the fabric down, revealing a small baby with black hair who was asleep. Mrs Ueno stares at the baby in shock and looks at her workers, "How did the baby end up on our doorstep?"
"We don't know, Ma'am."
"Then who opened the door?"
"It was me, Ma'am. I was cleaning the table when I heard a knock on the door. I went to open it and saw no one which made me confused until I saw the baby on the outside floor," one of the maids answered while Mrs Ueno slowly took the baby in her arms while soothing. "Is there anyone nearby?"
"No one. And also, it's hard to see it since it was raining heavily," the maid reminded. "I see," Mrs Ueno nodded slowly when she saw a letter near the baby.
"Hold the baby while I read the letter," she said while one of the maids slowly took the baby as the woman opened the letter and read it in her mind.
"My dear friend, Ueno Reika
I hope you remember me but, I don't have much time. They are bad people trying to steal my baby daughter away because they want to steal something inside her. I couldn't bear it so, my husband and I decided to run away from our hometown to Tokyo but, we didn't expect we were being followed. We tried our best to escape from them but, there were too many of them and my husband was badly injured. We have no choice but, to go to Sunrise Orphanage and leave our daughter there. It was the hardest decision for us but, it is the only way. Reika, please take care of her. She's really important. I want you to name her Kaneko Hikari. It means, 'Lights of all.' I'm sorry I'm giving you a hard time but, this is my last letter to you.
From Hitomi."
Mrs Ueno slowly lowers down the letter with lots of emotion on her face. She couldn't believe her best friend and her husband died protecting her daughter.
"Ma'am? What are we gonna do with a baby?" The maid asked. The woman walked toward the maid and slowly took the baby in her arms while soothing. "We'll keep her," Mrs Ueno stated while stroking the baby's hair.
"And we will name her......
........Kaneko Hikari."
