*~*~*~

Jihak tugged at her wrist where red marks had formed. She moaned as he dragged her away. He was in such a bad mood that he couldn't breathe properly.

He had saved her.

He had acceded to her request.

The snow was up to his ankles.

Jihak pushed her into the room, he didn't care that the floor was damp. In the damp room, he grabbed the woman's neck, who lay on the bed.

Then he kissed her.

He bit her lip without hesitation. As he slid his tongue to catch hers, her breathing began to grow heavier.

She exhaled a sigh.

When the long kiss ended, he held both her wrists.

Jihak slowly lifted his upper body. Unusually, it was disheveled.

He looked at her beautifully braided hair that was in disarray.

He scratched her wrist with his fingernails.

"Ah!"

She cried out in pain.

Jihak smiled when he saw her wet eyes.

He couldn't calm his anger, so he wanted to devour her.

"It hurts..."

She was frightened. He lay down on her. Then he took off his hat.

"I won't make you suffer. I want to sleep like this today."

"I don't want to. I'll go to my room."

"Even if I don't do anything?"

"I still don't want to."

Eunha, who was shocked, slowly backed away.

"Please let me go."

She looked like she wanted to escape from a tiger.

Jihak, who turned his gaze to the ceiling, pressed his temples with his fingers.

"Get out."

When he told her to go away, her eyes grew wide.

Jihak narrowed his eyes.

"I told you to get out."

"Lord..."

"Your sister is no longer a courtesan. I have kept my promise, now do your part."

Jihak closed his eyes.

He was curious about the girl's expression, but he didn't want to see it. He heard the woman's footsteps as she walked out. Only then did Jihak open his eyes.

It was the alcohol's fault. He had drunk too much.

He had too many useless thoughts, so his night would be long.

Yuljae came in. It looked like he had seen Eunha leaving. He asked Jihak,

"Did you check?"

"Yes, there was no poison in the food I ate at the courtesan's house."

"I guess today was not the day you were supposed to die."

The day he discovered his mother's shameful act, he learned that the person who poisoned the tea was a maid. She was the servant closest to the late Crown Princess.

She justified it because she was afraid of the Crown Prince's cruelty, she cried out that he was not qualified to become King. However, Jihak did not believe the maid who confessed her guilt.

"Can't you sleep?"

Yuljae approached Jihak, who was watching the snowfall from the window.

Suddenly, Jihak grabbed Yuljae's arm. He frowned because he felt pain.

"Show me the wound."

"Alright. It doesn't matter."

"You are my hands. So your body is mine too. Please look after it."

"Yes, Lord..."

Even if he could fool a ghost, he couldn't fool his eyes.

Yuljae stayed close to Jihak until the oil in the lamp ran out. Jihak did not close his eyes all night.
