•••

Jihak showed up with an attendant.

She had insulted her sister. She also taunted her father.

Jihak, who approached Eunha, sat down next to her. He hugged her.

He said to the attendant who had trembling hands,

"If you cause trouble again, your life will be over. Got it?"

"Yes."

After the attendant left the room, Eunha put her forehead against his chest.

"It's strange that you're angry after you turned me into this."

"What did I do?"

"You treat me like a courtesan. I spread my legs to receive something in return, so I really have become a courtesan."

Jihak kissed her forehead.

"Why is the woman who approached me to try to kill me so stubborn?"

"How could I kill you? At least trust me not to hurt you."

"Then tell me who are the people who kidnapped you."

"I was not afraid. I didn't know why they kidnapped me. In that place they interrogated me harshly, when I opened my eyes I was here."

"I heard that the people involved in the kidnapping are related to the courtesan house."

He cupped her neck with his warm hands. She lowered her gaze. He felt angry. She didn't even hide the fact that she couldn't make eye contact with him.

He would like to break her thin neck, then the growing feelings that caused him pain could disappear. If his emotions were possessive in her regard, there would be less confusion.

Jihak stroked her neck, where her pulse was. He tenderly placed a kiss upon her. While the soup lost its warmth and the rice became firm, they held each other close.

"You have to read a book tomorrow night."

Eunha put on the chima jeogori that Gari had brought her. He spoke again,

"Why don't you answer?"

"When I start reading again tomorrow night, there will be less than 20 books left. I'll probably finish reading all the books in a month."

"That would happen before the flower breeze. It depends on your capabilities. You can read the remaining books in a month."

"Thank you."

Eunha turned away. But Jihak added,

"Don't think you can leave this place just because you read the books. All your days belong to me since I rescued your sister from the courtesan house."

"Alright."

Eunha left Jihak's room. She went back to her room. She had no strength, so she slumped on the seat.

She didn't have to worry about Yongi anymore. She felt she could trust Sohyeon.

She wondered what her sister wanted. Did she really just want to escape? Or maybe she was her sister's weak point too? Eunha decided not to think about it anymore.

She had come to understand that seeking the right moment was preferable to making hasty decisions.

The friendlier Jihak became, the more Eunha felt bad. It appeared as though he wished to peer into her soul, as if in an attempt to unveil her genuine thoughts.

***

"I want the girl named Yongi to be my attendant."

The Defense Minister was puzzled due to her bold request.

"Do you want the girl who will become my concubine as your attendant?"

"Yes. I know the reason why you want her to become your concubine."

"What?"

"It seems you want Young Master Shihoon to stay away from Yongi. Therefore, hand over the girl to me. I'll act as a watchdog."

This girl looked like a fox.

Yoon Jongshin stared at Sohyeon's pretty face. He had not yet made Yongi his concubine, because there were rumors that Shihoon had sl#pt with Yongi.

That was why Sohyeon's proposal seemed good to him.

"I'll give you the girl. Your father raised you very well."
