circumspect:
wary, catious and unwilling to take risks.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Being social was arduous. That is what I had learnt in all my years whilst working in a cafe.

From servicing customers to cleaning filthy plates along with the gruelling, long hours of the day, my conclusion was that being a waitress was the last thing for me.

I guess that's why I felt an unexpected sensation of bliss when I heard a ding emit from my phone.

I quickly dried my hands and grabbed at my phone, like a naive child in rose coloured glasses.

Except, this wasn't a text from my parents like I had assumed.

No. It was a daunting message that stood out from the rest, with its condenscending, bright words and its cheerful font which I knew had a mocking undertone.

Call it an instinctual feeling.

I hesitantly pressed on the message and as if on demand, Athena came rushing over with the same message.

On it, it read:

YOU have won the prize!! The money will be deposited into your account after each day of your camping experience!! You must enter the forest at xxx xxx xx location and that will mark day 0. Tomorrow your journey will start from day 1.

I inwardly grimaced at the text, why did they seem so sure we would even accept? Just because we signed up didnt mean we actually wanted to go I thought haughtily.

They didn't really clarify their identitys and that caused my suspicions to spike.Just who were these people?

Apparently, Rhea and Athena had different opinions as a shrilling scream left both of them. They excitedly embraced each other and looked at me.

There was no room for discussion.

-----------------------------------------------------------
I made my way back to my house in search for all the items I would be packing for the camping trip.

The thought of defying Rhea and Athena when they were in such a serioud mood terrified me.

They had dropped me off at my house and I made my way up to my door, key in hand.

Just as I inserted the key in the lock, I realised something. The flowerpot concealing my spare key seemed to have shifted slightly and I cautiously made my way inside.

I couldn't tell them what had happened. No. They'd only worry and insist I stay with them despite the fact they weren't in the best financial situation themselves.

I took 20 minutes to collect all the necessary items I needed:Clothes, blankets,a foldable tent, flashlight, phone, medical supplies.

All I needed now was food. I made my way to the kitchen and almost dropped my backpack.

A sick feeling of deja vu hit me as I stared at the surprisingly organised containers on the kitchen counters. I hesitantly walked over to them and read the overly bright post-it-note.

Be resourceful. Try to survive.

The change in tone showed me that this person was much more serious than the last. The short words struck fear in me but still, food was food and I'd be crazy to not accept it.

There was a variety of foods and I took some. I grabbed the note and ran to Rhea and Athena, frantically showing them the note.

"Pfthha is this your way of making us not go?"
