Finding my hero

The beginning of the weekend wasn't very eventful although your mom was definitely getting sicker. She didn't want to eat until you finally had All might convince her. After dinner when you and Yagi were cleaning up you spoke.

"It's not going to be long now... is it.." you said.

You could hear his breath hitch in his throat. His thin body stiffened. And he didn't seem to know what to say.

"I know what's happening Yagi... I have been trying to prepare myself for it for a while now." You said while trying to focus on washing the dishes.

He put his hand on your shoulder and the two of you existed in a silent understanding until he spoke softly.

"You won't be alone. You'll always have me y/n my dear." He said.

Your mom passed away the next night. It had been coming for years. She'd been battling this disease since before your dad died. After he was gone it was like her body couldn't fight anymore, but she kept going out of sheer determination just to be with you. It had only been a few days ago when she had said what you took as her goodbyes.

"Y/n... I know you'll live an amazing life... you'll be surrounded with wonderful friends. I love you so much my baby girl. I promise I'll always be here even after I'm gone." You remembered what she said as you and All might stared down at her head stone a few days later.

You took some time to grieve. You thought you were prepared for this but you were now an orphan. After your dad died it had just been you and your mom, you'd survived a lot of hard times together and not having her to rely on or cry to was really hitting you hard. All might was there to help and take care of you during the hardest part of the process but you were still lacking something.

It had already been two weeks and you hadn't left your room since you came home from the cemetery. You heard a knock on the door but assumed it was just All might and rolled over to go back to sleep.

There was another knock. Then another.
"Y/n-chan... are you there?" You heard through the walls. You sprang up in surprise. You slumped out to the door and opened it to be greeted by Izuku. who'd obviously been standing in the rain for a while. You stood to the side and gestured for him to come inside.
He stared at you for a moment then entered.

He took off his wet jacket, his backpack, and shoes and left them by the door before looking back up at you.
Your hair was a frizzy mess, you were in an over sized t shirt and shorts with some fuzzy socks on. You had obviously been crying since your eyes were puffy and slightly red.

He opened his arms and before you knew it he was hugging you.
You tightly hugged him back You tucked your head into his neck and just stayed there for a while. You felt his heart beat against your chest and smelled his calming scent which definitely helped calm you down a bit.

He rubbed your back as he blushed hard.
'You're so beautiful y/n, even though you just lost your mom. Your last parent. You're depressed and dealing with something so hard when you're too young. I will be here for you. In your corner just like you are for everyone else.' Izuku thought.

You two just stayed like that for a few minutes. Then when you separated he just looked at you with those big eyes and you couldn't help but think he was cute.

"I- I brought you some stuff from the class." He said before going for his bag.

You watched him pull out a bunch of stuff.

"These are cookies from Sato." He handed you a tin.

"This is from Mina and the girls." He handed you a card.

"This is from the boys." He handed you a teddy bear with a small card attached.

You were standing there all loaded up with stuff and he looked panicked which made you giggle.
You walked into your room and set the stuff down on your bed. Izuku just stood in place by the front door looking awkward.

You walked back and rolled your eyes and grabbed his hand before pulling him back to your room.

He blushed hard when you gestured for him to sit on your bed. Your room was a bit messy but wasn't too bad and it was Izuku so you weren't too worried.

"W-will you stay a while?" You asked him.
He quickly nodded and sat back down.

For the next few hours you watched movies and shared the cookies that Sato had made you. Then when it the sun started going down you said goodbye so he could get home quickly.

You opened the card from the girls and smiled at their sweet wishes and condolences. Then you opened the card that was with the teddy bear from the boys.

"Dear y/n we are sorry for your loss and hope that you are doing okay, hopefully this bear can bring you some comfort in our place."
Then on the back was "that was shitty hairs dumb words not mine. Text me if you need anything (katsuki's phone number)"

You giggled a little before snuggling the soft bear and putting Katsukis number into your phone.
