There giants and there was us. Goliath was taken down by a stone, and we were created by one.

Your mother told you that story countless times, but what was before that? You've been seen the book on your lineage plenty enough to know there was no stars in between at least.

Your mind shifted between that and Valentine. You know he doesn't love you, but the idea of having a life and family with you. Do you want that though? You lit up your hands with the unforseeable power as you think about that night where this all started.

You see the girl freeze as if contemplating what to do. She faced you as if wanting to tell you something, but she stays quiet.

Did she know you were pregnant, or did she knew of Valentine's facade? You sighed realizing that wasn't important now. What you should be worried about is proving your innocence and getting back to your life. You can't help though but to look at your sleeping comrades and feel an overwhelming guilt. You literally have the President at your corner, but what do they have? Nothing whatsoever. It wasn't fair by no means, and it was another reason to keep you up at night.

You then suddenly hear a door open, and you were quick to turn off your ability though was still outed by a flashlight. Connoric sighs as he comes down those fatal steps with something in his hands. Once he makes it to the bottom step, he takes a seat presenting a gift to you.

You take the book as your hands slightly touched, and you noticed how warm he is. He passes you the flashlight, and you read the title. A Mother's Fury.

" I wondered what made you pick this."

You were sarcastic, and he lets out a little chuckle trying to be aware of the others sleeping.

" The main character reminds me of you. She's resilient, intelligent, beautiful..."

You blushed at the man making a pass at you, and before you could speak, he leans over placing a hand over your belly. It was a gentle gesture as his palm moves too and fro leaving an icy touch. His magic reeked of Death, and you can't help but to ask about his origin. Retracting his hand sadly, he explains how he's the son of Hades and Persephone.

" What was it like to be their son? Why do you choose to stay in the human world?"

He looks back on the slumbering folk, and he motioned you to come upstairs. You hesitantly do so hoping that you weren't making a mistake. As he shuts and locks the door behind you, you clutch unto your book tightly. You take in the fine detailing of the mansion from its art to the oak wood
furnitures. His walls were painted a dark shade of grey, and his flooring was constructed from the essentials of a maple tree. He guides you into a den that already had a pleasant roaring of flames within the fireplace. You can't help but to admire his shelves of books that reached all the way to the ceiling adding to the cozy environment. You find yourself taking a seat within the chair of the softest fabric.

" Would you like some coffee?"

You nod having miss the dark liquid dearly. He is reluctant, but he leaves you to yourself. He's seeing this as a test of your trust though he primarily believed you wouldn't try to run because of Clementine. And to his judgement, he was correct finding you within the same exact spot though you seemed in a trance. He warns you it's hot as you take a sip appreciating the bitterness. He places himself on the ground as you both drowned in an abyss of silence. He finally breaks the ice as he tucks the log in with a fire poker.

" I'm lucky to have such great parents. They've always been there for me and taught me morally right unlike some people. I was provided with everything I could possibly wish for, but I always enjoyed the simple things. That's why I stay in the human world enjoying my quiet life."

" They did raise you right ir seems. I'm.. I'm glad for it."

Things go quiet for a second before he changes the topic.

" I'm thinking about getting you outside help."

You turned to him as you couldn't believe what you're hearing.

" Won't you get in trouble?"

" I might lose my position. Yes."

You shake your head then as you think about the others. You felt as if you needed to be by their side in this.

" I should be treated the same as my colleagues."

" Don't be selfless. You have children to think of."

He looks at you as his eyes illuminated within the dim room. You turn your head contemplating whether to tell him about Valentine or not. This after all could be a trick.

Thunder suddenly struck outside accommodating by the sudden flood of rain. It was... soothing in a way as the heat sinks within your flesh. Connoric leans against the arm of the chair appreciating the shared moment.

" I'm sorry you have children with a man who hates you so. If it was me, I... I would never be so horrid."

" He... He doesn't hate me."

He perks his head up then making eye contact, and you force yourself to look away. You sighed hoping you weren't about to make a mistake, but as his hand  suddenly grasped your own, you felt he was rooting for you deep down.

" Valentine.. It's all an act. He really wants to marry me. I.. somehow break his children curse."

He stands then as you're shocked by his fury.

" Then why don't he stand up for you?! He could pull so many strings if he wanted, but he's too much of a coward I see-."

" Don't.. Don't call him that please. It's his status-."

He lets out a laugh not shocked by your reply.

" Of course that's what it is. I literally asked your hand in marriage in front of the big guy, but he can't even put in a good word!"

" He might have.."

" Trust me when I say he's purely selfish!"

He halts seeing you were becoming upset. You usually would be stronger than this, but this is your babies you're talking about. Ever since he gained custody, you've been collapsing on yourself slowly.

He finds himself back on his knees cupping your cheek with his hand. You hated it, but you find yourself at peace having needed a loving touch badly.

" It'll be okay. I promise you'll be alright, and you'll return to your children. You'll be free.. You'll.. You're so pretty."

He leans in closely, and you freeze as his lips meet yours. You think of Valentine feeling immense guilt, but you melt as he grips your hair gently as he held unto you like your were an addiction. He pulls on your form, sliding off the chair into his lap. He brings his knees up squeezing you between them and his chest. He pulls away to take a breath, but he can't help as he bites down on your neck hard.

" Ah~."

He groans against your skin at your voice, and though you so much wanted to continue, you pulled away. He whines like a puppy dog wondering what was wrong.

" A little more love. What's the problem Y/n?"

" We hardly know each other, and.. and it'll complicate things. I.. I would like to go to sleep now."

He just nods as you climb off him though.. you landed one more kiss on his cheek. You then grabbed ahold of the book not realizing how it'll help your sleep though the night with it in your grasp.
