Hunter's POV:

I looked back up at Asher, his eyes wide and eyebrows raised. "You said you wanted an explanation, so I explained." I said with a shrug.

He shook himself out of shock. "Sorry, yeah. I did. That was just-"

"A lot?" I finished for him. "Yeah. It's worse when you're the one going through it." Flapjack flapped up into my messy blonde hair, tugging gently at the little strand that hung in front of my face as he got comfortable.

Asher looked over at me. "Does anyone know you're..." He began, trying to find the words.

"A grimwalker?" I suggested, "Trans?" I tried again. "Willow and Luz both know I'm trans, but only Luz knows I'm a grimwalker. I feel like everyone would hate me if they knew what I am, but Luz has a secret that everyone would probably hate her for too, so we keep each other's secrets. It makes our bond even stronger." I smiled. I didn't quite know why I told him all that I did, but I felt safe with Asher. I just knew I could trust him, it was a feeling in my gut. I shifted to get more comfortable, and Flapjack chirped in alarm as he fell off of my head.

Asher scooped him up into the palm of his hand, which earned a another quiet chirp from Flapjack as he looked up at him. Asher gave him a gentle pet on the head as he puffed up his feathers and settled into the palm of his hand. I let out a soft breath similar to a laugh. Asher looked over at me. "He's usually not that trusting with people he doesn't know too well." I said, smiling at the little cardinal. I looked back up at Asher, only to find he was already looking back at me. "Wh- heheh what?" I chuckled nervously, one ear twitching slightly in the cool breeze.

"Nothing." Asher said, studying my gaze. He turned back towards the city lights and I lied on my back to look up at the stars.

"Why can't we see the stars from here?" I turned to Asher just as he stood and reached his hand out for me. I took his hand, let him pull me up, and cocked my head in question.

Asher smiled. "I know just the place." He started walking, then stopped and turned back to me. "It's a little bit of a walk though, might take us a while to get there. But I swear, it's worth it."

I followed him to where he stood and pulled out my staff. "It doesn't have to." I hopped onto the staff with a smile and scooted forward to give Asher room to sit behind me.

"No way I'm gettin' on that." He said, eyebrows raised.

"Wha-" I laughed, "It's safe, just don't fall off. It's really not that hard."

Asher furrowed his brows. "Bull."

"Is not!" I scoffed, "C'mon, idiot."

With a last shared laugh, Asher finally sat behind me on the staff and grabbed onto my shoulders. "If I fall off, I'm suing you." He said. I gave a disbelieving hum in return. I let Flapjack lift us slowly up into the air, just high enough to pass over the trees.

"Just point me in the right direction." I said, taking off at an easy pace once Asher had given me the go-ahead. We glided easily over the trees, the wind blowing through our hair, and the calming smells of the Connecticut night filling my nose. We flew over lots of forest, before I spotted a clearing in the distance, which Asher pointed out and told me where to land. We touched ground next to a big stump on the edge of the clearing, where I began to look around and wander off before Asher pulled me towards the middle, where a large oak tree stood. I looked up into the branches, beams of moonlight peeking through them, and watched in awe as the moonlit leaves swayed in the wind. "It's so pretty." I said, just as Asher put his hand out to pull me up onto the branch he sat on.

"I know, right?" He agreed, "You'll love the view from the top." Asher climbed higher into the branches, with me following closely behind, until we got as high as we could go without limbs snapping under us, and settled down into a comfortable position. We stared up into the vast expanse of the inky black sky, stars and planets all scattered throughout.

It might have been minutes or hours until I finally got tired, but I then dropped Asher off at his house, and went home and fell asleep next to Flapjack.
