(Heimdall)
Brynhild's delicate fingers lifted from her lyre. The last echoes of those strings and her really quite lovely voice hung in the air of the great lodge. She had just completed a song of blessing at lady traitor's bidding. Everyone would clap now. I steeled myself for the uproar.

Oh, great, Frigg was going to ask Brynhild to be a handmaiden of hers now. She had just been declared Valkyrie Queen by All-Father. She had the right, but it was the one thing I did not want to happen. Brynhild should stay as far away from Frigg as possible. Although she now looked like an Aesir thanks to my wardrobe contributions, many in attendance still doubted her membership in the community just as they did Frigg's. And now, as lady traitor actually did the act, their thoughts were solidifying. Brynhild was actually excited about it. Stupid girl. I would have to make the error of her ways clear to her later about this and her earlier doubt of my competency in a fight.

I thought back to the earlier scuffle with Frigg. That small gasp that Brynhild let out. She really thought that Frigg could overwhelm me. Ridiculous! I had to hold back the sudden image of Brynhild under me making similar noises.

She did look absolutely ravaging tonight. Her long brown hair was braided like a crown around her head with long curls trailing down her slender back. Her muscular arms were exposed and the blue dress I had bought fit her well in all the best places. It was a good thing I was wearing a longer tunic tonight.

Unfortunately, it seemed I was not the only one having similar thoughts about Brynhild. The Aesir men were truly depraved. I glared at everyone I could to pre-occupy their minds. Brynhild was mine. The only ones who did not look away were Magni and Modi who instead moved towards Brynhild as she attempted to return to her father. Those two probably had all their seed stuffed into their head instead of their shriveled balls if their behavior was any indication on any given night. I should really focus on Budli tonight, but he could wait until my business with Brynhild was concluded. I moved towards her, intercepting my nephews.

It had been a great party so far! Frigg the new Valkyrie Queen and I her first chosen handmaiden. What an honor! She had taught me so much this afternoon in the sparring ring already. I could not imagine a more honorable or better lady to serve. My father was also obviously pleased. He practically beamed at me as I walked back to him after my performance, which people seemed to like. Those rude girls who had rejected me earlier also seemed to have a gleam of something in their eyes as they watched me perform. Respect or jealousy?

Father glanced to his right and as I looked there also, I saw Magni and Modi Thorsons heading straight towards me. Shit. Although I had been here a short time, even I already knew the pair of brothers were bad news, especially when their father was not present. Apparently he had gone off on a killing spree as some of the guests had put it.

Just then, Heimdall appeared in front of me. "Heimdall!" I said with a smile. He had been staring at me all night, but I could not get near him despite my best attempts.

"Can we talk?" He said grimly.

"Of course! Should we go into the hallway where it's quieter? Looks like All-Father just ordered a new round of mead."

Heimdall nodded and we walked together. Once we entered the hallway and away from the gathering, I felt pressure on my upper arm. I looked up at my companion; his face was very serious and he was holding me in place.
