Aniyah drove while I scolded myself as I had done every day since Justin promised he would join the SDC team. "Why did I agree to this?"
"Because the client comes first."
"He's not an actual client, yet."
"But he did confirm his verbal agreement, which means he will be one soon...so."
Considering Taylor Ward's contract was in place, and Justin's was the last piece before I made partner, her accurate assessment should have excited me, but it didn't. Sighing, I pouted. "Yeah, yeah... I know."
"Why the long face, then? We're going to have a great weekend, you, me, and both of your boy toys."
"I don't have any boy toys."
"Okay." Aniyah laughed, then added. "How about men sin."
"Seriously, though, I don't think this is a good idea. Since the gala, Justin hasn't backed down about wanting a second chance. And Mason, well, I don't know what the hell is going on with him."
"Maybe he's tripping because JL has all but pissed on your leg."
"But I can't be with either of them." I pondered the thought for a few seconds, then declared. "At least, I don't think I can."
Hell, I didn't know what to feel. I was insanely attracted to one man while trying to not fall back in love with the other. The hardest part, conducting business, which meant I had to spend time with them both. And while Justin had been open about his feelings, over the past nine months, Mason clammed up tighter than a gnat's ass.
Like how does all of that lip licking, dick rubbing, mind fucking behavior just... stop? I didn't have a clue, and after constantly adjusting my desires in relation to their temperaments, a bitch was tired, single and still very much lonely and horny.
"Why do I feel so awkward? I'm really not looking forward to this."
"It'll all work out. Don't take those sleeping pills you packed, though. I can't have you sleep walking and screwing bears. Then shit will really get weird."
She gets on my damn nerves. The moment Aniyah stopped the car in front of the retreat, we were greeted by eager attendants who confiscated our luggage.
"Whoa." I cautioned. "Where are you taking those? We haven't selected our cabins."
An older gentleman replied. "Mr. Legacy has already assigned lodgings for his guests."
Of course he did. "And those would be where on this map?"
"Ms. Richardson and Mr. Diggs will be lodging on the East end of the compound. Ms. Greggs and Mr. Legacy are lodging in the West."
The moment I raised my hand to protest, Aniyah knocked it down, then addressed the elderly attendant. "Thank you, sir, and we appreciate your help with our luggage."
"What are you doing?"
"Sabotaging your sabotaging, that's what I'm doing. There's nothing wrong with the sleeping arrangements, angry bird."
All I could do was sulk while she shook my shoulders and preached.
"Sabryna, I love you, but keeping you sane around JL and Mason has been exhausting, and I need a break. Stop stressing, chill the hell out, and suck up some of this crisp mountain air. Take some hikes, have many a drink, but do us both a favor and just unfucking wind for once."
I knew she was right, but didn't have to be happy about it. I conceded with a groan. "Fine, I'll relax."
"Good, now let's find the guys and get this party started."
