Jacob Samuel Richardlin

How could you be so stupid Jacob. You had one job! Really simple too. Don't kill Hannah.

I shook my head as I went downstairs. Now I have to do damage control. Her mom was very confused when I called her. She said that Hannah was supposed to take medication in the morning and she must have forgotten, but when I asked her if Hannah needed to take medication she was very vague and never answered the question. I started a pot of water and turned to explore the pantry. I grabbed a box of mac-n-cheese, but as I was closing the door I noticed a cluster of bottles sitting on the shelf. The label said they were Snapple peach tea but the liquid inside was a few shades too red. I picked it up and placed it on the tray I was preparing for Dia. I cut up some apples and placed them on a plate and returned to the stove.

If you told me 3 days ago I would be spending the day with a girl and cooking for her, I would have told you that you were insane. Dia is so nice to get to know but I feel like she is hiding something. Almost like she is pushing something aside because she doesn't want it to affect her but the more she hides it the more it does.

Earlier she was so determined to play volleyball. I was going to let her do it no matter what but it was still fun to annoy her. While we were playing she almost fell 3 times. I was so worried, and then she tried to run away! I couldn't let her put herself in any more danger than she already is. She thinks I fell asleep during The Notebook but... wait never mind I did fall asleep. I woke up before the credits and snuggled into her more.

A buzz interrupted my thoughts. My phone lit up with a FaceTime notification. I looked at the caller ID and it read Patrick. I immediately picked up.

Patrick has been my best friend for as long as I can remember. His face came onto my screen and he bombarded me with questions. "You got suspended! Why? What did you do? Does your dad know?"

"I got in a fight."

He studied his phone and gasped dramatically. "Who is she?"

"What?" I asked, surprised.

"You got in a fight, you have a dumb smile on your face, and you are in someone else's house." He smirked.

"I'm in my apartment, you're confused."

"No, I'm in your apartment right now." I rolled my eyes. "What's her name?"

"It's nothing serious, she's a sexual abuse victim and I was just helping."

"But you're smiling like an idiot. I've only seen you smile in church, or with your dogs, or while eating ice cream."

"That's not true." I said, but Patrick's a man on a mission.

"It is! I'll figure it out. Can I have your Oreo's?"

"No!" I said but he hung up before I could answer. I shook my head and laughed. I finished making the mac and cheese and carried the tray up to Dia's room.

I don't know how I'm going to tell Dia that her mom knows about the incidents. I told her about them when Dia was in the car. She was shocked, and I made sure to stress that I did not have that much information and I was working on it but I don't think that is the reason she was so disturbed. I told my PI about the 3 must-be-feared and he informed me of Mrs. Terolb and Mr. Flinop's strong friendship and business agreements. I could see why Hannah was so scared.

When I opened the door, I immediately noticed the book. It was hanging off the end of the bed, with Dia's fingers laying on top. I gently pulled the book out of her grasp, minding the page number, and setting on her night stand. I placed the tray full of food on her chair and brushed the hair out of her face. I leaned down and kissed her forehead. I sat next to her and started massaging her scalp. She sighed and leaned into the contact. I chuckled and kissed her again.

We stayed in this position for a while until I laid next to her on the bed. After a while I felt my eyelids get heavy. Her food can wait. We can always heat it up when she wakes up. I kissed her on her cheek and let sleep overcome me.
