As the night wore on, Scotty excused himself from the group to take a moment alone. The flickering shadows of the trees danced around him as he made his way into the darkness, guided only by the soft glow of the moon.
Finding a secluded spot away from the bonfire, Scotty took a deep breath, relishing the stillness of the night. But as he closed his eyes, a familiar voice filled his ears, sending a shiver down his spine.
"Scotty..."
Scotty's eyes snapped open, his heart pounding in his chest as he searched the darkness for the source of the voice. And then, as if materializing out of thin air, the figure of his late brother, Alex, stood before him, bathed in an ethereal light.
"Alex?" Scotty breathed, his voice barely above a whisper as he took in the sight of his brother's spirit.
Alex smiled warmly at him, his eyes filled with love and pride. "Hey, little brother," he said, his voice tinged with sadness and longing.
Tears welled up in Scotty's eyes as he reached out to touch his brother's ghostly form, the familiar warmth of his presence washing over him. "I miss you, Alex," he choked out, his voice thick with emotion.
"I miss you too, Scotty," Alex replied, his voice filled with sorrow. "But I'm here now, to tell you how proud I am of you."
Scotty's heart swelled with emotion at his brother's words, a lump forming in his throat. "Thank you, Alex," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the rustling of the leaves.
Alex's expression softened, his gaze filled with love and affection. "I see how happy you are with Brent, Scotty. He's a good man, and he loves you more than anything in this world."
A tear slid down Scotty's cheek as he nodded, his heart overflowing with gratitude for the love he shared with Brent. "He's everything to me, Alex. I don't know what I would do without him," he confessed, his voice trembling with emotion.
Alex smiled warmly at him, his eyes shining with pride. "Take care of him, Scotty. This is forever," he said, his voice filled with urgency.
Before Scotty could respond, the sound of footsteps approached from behind him. He turned to see Brent standing there, concern etched on his face.
"Pup, are you okay? I've been looking everywhere for you," Brent exclaimed, his voice filled with worry.
Scotty blinked back tears as he turned to look at Brent, his heart heavy with the weight of their conversation. And then, as he glanced back at the spot where Alex had stood just moments before, he realized that his brother's spirit was gone, leaving behind only a lingering sense of warmth and love.
"I'm okay, Big Daddy," Scotty replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil within him. "I was just... talking to Alex."
Brent wrapped his arms around Scotty, pulling him close in a comforting embrace. "I'm here for you, Scotty. Always," he whispered, his voice filled with love and reassurance.
As they stood there together, wrapped in each other's arms, Scotty knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, he would always have Brent by his side. And with that thought, he found solace in the knowledge that their love was unbreakable, just like the bond he shared with his late brother, Alex.
