CHAPTER 4: Good Afternoon
"Team, please have it done today. At least show the progress of your works," Sir Andrei said when he visited the office.
Almost two weeks had passed and all have been busy with their drafts. The clients also decided to stay here on the firm for the meantime while waiting for it.
Well, we can't really blame the architects. Even if they are known professionals or experienced, they're very much aware of how hard it is to start from scratch. We know it and we hate it sometimes. Especially for exterior since we didn't get any direct specifications regarding it.
"And Anastasia, I'd like you to relay them on the clients. I'll be out for the mean time to check on the site parameters," Sir Andrei told me.
Upon hearing my name, my head automatically looked in front.
"Just submit the handouts. You can also leave it to Claudia, she's the receptionist on building two," he added.
"But sir, isn't it supposed to be done by someone from the higher ranks? She's just an intern," may isang nagsalita galing sa likod.
"And look at her, she's far from being presentable. Baka ano pang sabihin ng clients natin," pagsesegunda ng isa pang architect.
Tama naman kasi iyon, he can choose Architect Pam instead or anyone else but me. Not after that dreadful encounter inside the elevator. I've had it too much and I think, I deserve some rest away from it. My actual plan is to work at peace anyway, and being in front of those clients doesn't provide it.
Most especially from that man.
We heard him clear his throat before speaking, "No, all of you need to work your asses off. And besides, they asked specifically for her,"
"Sir, are you certain?" Pam suddenly butted in to confirm.
Wait, ano daw? They asked for... what?
At first, it didn't register in my mind. I didn't understand what he said. But when realizations dawned at me, para akong binuhasan ng malamig na tubig.
I can hear my heart slowly hammering inside like a goddamn drum. This might be overreacting for some however, as much as possible, I prefer to work far from them. It feels like my life will turn upside down whenever I meet those hazel light-brown eyes of that devil!
Oh God, this can't be happening. I cannot meet that man again! Ayoko!
Agad akong tumayo para umapila, "B-But, sir—"
"No buts, Ms. Guzman. This is the job for interns. You just need to pass them the drafts since we're having some delays on it, we need them to be assured." he finishes with finality.
I just need to pass them the drafts and that's it, job's done.
