Overcoming Destruction (Chp 7)

Upon first glance seeing four paint covered adults sitting in a hospital waiting room would seem very unusual. But under further look you see the worry written clearly on their faces.
10 minutes pass and no news.
15 and the others in the waiting room leave
20 and a young female comes running in.
"Kalel!" Sarrice yells running to her and hugs her.
The blue haired girl is shaking and looks at the other two beside Sarrice.
"Kalel come here." Matt pulls her in a hug and they are all crying now.
In the few weeks that Matt and Kalel met they became very close. The whole band loves her. Matt especially.
Sarrice and Tany go and sit beside Mama T and wait. And wait. What seems like an eternity later a doctor walks out.
"Benji Rivers?"
We all stood up and the doctor took in our appearance but said nothing.
"He came in unconscious and bleeding from his head and rib area. He broke two ribs one that punctured outward breaking the skin. We set the bone and stocked him up. Those will take time to heal so let him rest. He also needed stitches for his head. No major head trauma was done so that is something to be greatful for." They all stood there processing what was said. When one found there voice and asked what everyone else was thinking.
"What about Zeke?" Sarrice asked quietly.
"Zeke?"
"Cason, Zeke Cason."
He shuffled through some charts. Then looked up gravely.
"He was rushed to surgery from internal bleeding and blood loss. He has a concussion and a few broken bones. There are some more things that may not seem good but I can tell them." He looked at the group and they nodded.
"Upon arrival Zeke's blood pressure was dropping rapidly. He flatlined momentarily until we revived him. He just came out of surgery and we aren't sure of the outcome at this point." He told them solemnly.
"Can we see them?" Tany asked, practically begging.
"They are both in the ICU and may be sleeping visiting hours end at 9, one person is allowed to stay overnight but if they are awake do not overwhelm them. Three in a room at a time please. I'll have a nurse take you back." He gave them strict orders and they all turned to talk about who would stay.
"I am opting out. I don't really know them that well." Kalel said.
"I can go pick up clothes for whoever is staying right now." She offered.
Matt looked at Sarrice and Tany.
"I have to work tomorrow morning." Tany said.
"So me and Matt then?" Sarrice said.
"How about I go with Kalel to get our clothes and you guys can visit?" Matt offered.
Sarrice and Tany shared a look then turned to Matt.
"Fine with us." Tany said.
"We'll go ahead and go so I can get back quicker be back soon." He hugged Tany and kissed her head.
"Be safe please." Sarrice said hugging him. She kissed his cheek as he turned to Kalel offering his hand.
"Alright Matt lets go." Kalel said grabbing his hand and walking out the E.R. waiting room. They turned around and waved before heading to her car.
"Alright Sary lets go see our boys yeah?" Tany said offering Sarrice her hand.
That's how they walked to Benji's room hand in hand.
Before they went in Sarrice turned to Tany.
"Are you going to be ok in there? I mean I know how you are with blood."
She smiled weakly and nodded.
"I'll be fine lets go in." And in they went.
The door slid open and we walked in closing it silently.
"Benji? You awake?" Sarrice asked walking in the room.
"Hey girls." He said sitting up.
"So who's gonna bust me out of this joint?" He said smiling faintly.
Sarrice gave a weak laugh. Tany had tears falling rapidly down her face.
"Tanzie, come here kiddo." Benji beckoned her over and she hugged him gently. He looked up at her and wiped her tears.
"Don't ever scare me like that again you asshole." Tany said punching his arm.
"Wow I feel the love I'm in a car wreck and then get punched from my best friend....cold that's just cold." He said jokingly.
"Well Sary? Where's Matt and Zeke? The gang should all be here." He asked looking at her.
"Zeke uh he's in another room here. He died Benji his heart stopped!" Sarrice began crying.
"I-I can't I'm sorry I have to go." She quickly left the room.
"Should I go after her?" Tany asked.
"No let her cool down its what she needs. How bad Tan?"
"He lost a lot of blood and flatlined going into surgery. They revived him and they don't know how good his outcome will be.." She explained.
He closed his eyes and leaned back.
"It's my fault."
"What?"
"ITS MY FUCKING FAULT DESTANY!" He yelled and his heart monitor started beeping faster and nurses rushed in. One pulling Tany out who stared in shock at him.

Sarrice walked around aimlessly for a while. And somehow found herself in the children's ward. She looked up confused and looked around for familiar signs.
"Excuse me." She felt something tug on her shirt. She looked down and saw a little girl standing there. No hair and was pulling a oxygen tank behind her.
"Hi sweetie." She knelt down to her level.
"What's your name? I'm Daisy." She smiled sweetly.
"Well hello Daisy my name is Sarrice."
"That's a funny name." She giggled.
"Thank you. Your name is very pretty Daisy." Sarrice said
"Why is your hair red? That's not natural."
A bark of laughter was heard from behind Sarrice. She turned and saw a boy her age standing there wearing an ATL shirt. He had shaggy black hair and blue eyes.
"Daisy that wasn't nice." He said. He walked towards us
"Well look at it..." She reached forward and played with my hair.
"It's fine, she's fine." Sarrice stated looking up at the boy.
She rose up to her feet. Then offered her hand to the boy.
"I'm Sarrice."
"I'm Dash." He shook her hand.
"You listen to All Time Low?" Dash asked pointing to the skull tattoo on the back of her hand with All Time Low under it.
"Yeah I love them." She said shyly.
"Sarrice can I braid your hair?" She looked down at Daisy.
"Sure."
"Come on to my room then and bring my brother." She turned and walked off.
"Come on I'll show you. She can be a pain in the ass but she's adorable."
"So you're siblings then?" She questioned.
"Well duh stupid." He pushed her shoulder.
"No need to be mean." She pushed back and winked.
"This is it. Also can I ask why you looked confused and upset earlier?"
"Yeah my friends were in a car crash and I can't really bare the thought of them hurt you know?"
He nodded then opened the door. Daisy was on the bed talking with an adult woman.
"Sarrice!" She jumped up and grabbed her hand pulling her in the room.
"Well Daisy I feel loved." Dash exclaimed and put his hand over his heart.
"Dasher! Be nice to your sister." The woman scolded and Sarrice snickered.
"What are you laughing at? Peppermint?" Dash said.
"Wow what a good insult. Really I'm offended." She retorted sarcastically.
"Hi I'm Karen Salters, I'm Dash and Daisy's mom." The women smiled at Sarrice.
"Well I'm Sarrice if you haven't figured that out yet." She said with a smile.
"Hey! She's my friend let me braid her hair in peace please." Daisy interrupted.
"Aye aye captain." Dash mock saluted and sat on the bed next to Sarrice and grabbed her phone.
"Hey who's Matty and Kalel?"
"My best friend and his girlfriend but not quite girlfriend." She said and Dash laughed.
"Well he said 'We are coming back and mom said she'd bring us breakfast in the morning'."
"Ok can you say thanks."
"Sarrice?"
"Yeah Dash?"
"How old are you?"
"Wow wanna know my weight to?" She asked sarcastically.
That made his mom laugh and he looked embarrassed.
"I'm 20 and you can call me scar all my friends do."
"Me too and well I think your name is prettier than scar." Dash said looking at her intently.
She blushed and muttered a thanks.
"What about you Daisy? How old are you?"
"I'm 10 and proud." She stated well proudly. Making Sarrice laugh and Dash just shook his head.
He opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Monster by Skillet blaring through the room.
"Oh that's my phone." Sarrice reached over and grabbed it from Dash.
"This is the magical fairy that grants every wish how may I direct your call?" She asked earning a chuckle from Dash and the person on the other end.
"Um yeah I'd like to know where my best friend ran off to?"
"Tany I am in the children's ward. How I got here I have no fu-idea at all whatsoever." She stopped herself from cursing in front of Daisy and her mom. Dash caught on and laughed.
"Well they won't let me back in Benji's room."
"What?! Why?" She practically yelled.
"I uh upset him and his machine started going berserk."
She sighed heavily
"Tan I'm coming back soon. Just go sit in the waiting room I'll figure it out ok."
She cursed silently and hung up.
"Daisy I hate to have to say this but I have to go."
The girls face fell and she nodded.
"I needed to sleep anyways."
"Do you think you could tell me how to get back to the ICU?" She asked Dash and his mom.
"I'll take you I have to go home soon anyways." Dash stood up and offered his hand to help her up.
"Wait outside the door I'll be right out." She walked out but listened as he said goodnight to his little sister and kissed her head. Promising his family he'd be back tomorrow.
"You ready?" He asked as he walked out the door closing it softly.
"I guess." He chuckled and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Cheer up kid." He ruffled her hair and she looked up at him and glared.
"So how tall are you actually? I mean cause you are so little and cute." He tensed when he said cute but played it off.
"Uh 5'4 what are you 6 foot eight?" She joked blushing when she realized he called her cute.
"Actually 6'3 so shut it." She started laughing.
They exited the elevator and continued down a hall.
"You know I don't even remember going downstairs."
"That's what happens when you don't look up from your phone." He joked and received a slap to the head.
"Your a bitch did you know that?"
"Uh yeah it's my personality." She laughed.
"Glad to see you smiling Sary." They both turned around and Sarrice got a big grin on her face.
"MATT!!" She yelled running towards him and jumping in his arms.
"Can you feel the love tonight?" Kalel sang lonely and joking.
"Yeah whatever she loves me more than you." Matt stick his tongue out at her. Big. Mistake.
Sarrice moved and Kalel grabbed his hair and pulled.
"Ow ow ow women sheesh!"
Dash stood back laughing as this went on. Sarrice turned to him.
"You see what I have to deal with?" She mocked.
"Oh its horrendous! You poor child!" He exclaimed.
"Sary who's this?" Matt asked and raising his eyebrows suggestively.
"This is Dash I got lost a little while ago and ran into him and his sister we've been hanging out for a while." She put her hand on his arm.
"Well thanks for bringing her back she's a bit of an idiot so getting lost would be easy." Matt joked.
"You asshole!" She punched him hard in the arm.
"What is it hurt Matt day?!" He yelled.
"That's everyday!" Sarrice and Kalel said at the same time.
Dash was almost peeing himself laughing so much.
"What are you laughing at?" Sarrice asked.
"You guys are hilarious." He said.
In the corner of their eyes they could see Kalel elbow Matt and gesture down the hall.
"Hey we are gonna head off and see Benji and Zeke." They both waved and left.
Sarrice and Dash just stood there awkwardly as they walked away.
"So..." Dash said slowly.
Sarrice smirked a little.
"So."
"You'll be here tomorrow?"
"Yeah I'm staying overnight in Zeke's room."
"Boyfriend?"
"Band mate." She smirked again.
"Ah so uh here." He grabbed her arm and wrote his number down on it.
"Text or call me whenever." He winked and waved them started to walk off.
"Wait!" Sarrice called out.
She ran up to him and gave him a hug and kissed his cheek.
"Bye!" She yelled as she ran off.
"Bye." He whispered as he touched his cheek. Not wanting to forget the feeling of her lips.
