Chloe played tic-tac-toe with her little brother, Brandon, on their front porch. It was an extremely hot day. Their dad, Ralph, promised to take them to get ice cream, but he was still at the auction. He'd left bright and early for the horse auction, but he was still gone. He was probably getting Stephen, Lucas, or Chloe a horse. Lucas, the oldest, didn't exactly need one. His horse, Harley, was in good health and was only five years old. He had raised him from birth and was deeply connected with him. He'd trained him, raised him from birth, raced in the horse races with him, and he took care of him. Chloe's horse died last month, so she was in desperate need of one. Her horse, Peanut, died of heart worms. Leaving Chloe heart broken, but she told herself she'd live through it.. so she did. Peanut was precious to her since he was her mom's horse before she died. Peanut was going to turn ten this year.... but he died. He had a good life, but she missed that one part she had of her. But anyway, Stephen needed one too, since his horse was only a customer's horse and he couldn't keep it.
They lived on a farm, just the four of them. Chloe, Ralph, Lucas, and Brandon. Their dad was rich, but he preferred to live a normal life.
Lucas walked out of the house to the porch. He looked at them playing tic-tac-toe. "You guys are depressing." he laughed.
"Well, you got any better ideas?" Chloe asked.
"As a matter of face, I do." he replied.
"Are you gonna share the idea with us?"
"Well, we could go swimming."
"Sounds fun, why didn't you just go?"
"Because you know I like swimming with my little sister."
"I'm not that much younger than you."
"I'm eighteen, and you're fifteen. But that doesn't matter. I just like being the big brother. I never said that was the only reason, either."
"Well, what's the other reason?"
"Becca could come and she would want to hang out with you too."
"I don't know."
"Please. I haven't seen her in four days and she's the only serious girlfriend I've ever had." he pleaded, tickling her in the stomach a little bit.
"Okay, okay." Chloe laughed. "Come one, Stephen. Get your swim trunks on and we'll go to the pond."
"Yay!!!!" Stephen squeeled as he rushed inside the house.
Lucas smirked. "Do we have to bring him? It's much more fn with just the three of us."
"Well, we can't just leave him here."
"Fine, but only let him go to the shallow end. So we don't have to watch him as much."
"Okay."
Becca was there in seconds, that's because she lived only a few miles away, and they all went to the pond. It wasn't far at all since it was across the road from their driveway. They swam for at least an hour. Stephen was a good boy and he stayed in the shallow end. Chloe, Lucas, and Becca swam at the other end. Splashing and talking about stuff.
Eventually Chloe left them together and took Stephen inside. She knew that Lucas wanted to be alone with her, so she left them.
Stephen complained a little, but he was tired of being alone so he went with her.
Lucas and Becca walked over to them after about half an hour.
Their dad got back. He brought a woman, her daughter, and two horses. One for Chloe and one for Stephen. Chloe called her horse Angel. Angel was pure white, but strongly built. Stephen called his horse Norman. Norman was a chestnut horse, beautiful, but gentle.
