The day went by so fast. I got up late because I got to bed so late after the party. None of us spoke of the night before, especially Juliana. When we got home from the party, she made us promise we wouldn't tell anyone that we invited Cody.
Blake called me in the morning, just to say he loved me. He called every morning, and night. He didn't call last night because we saw each other at the party, and he knew I was tired.
Tomorrow would be the anniversary of the wedding, three whole months. I know it seems like it's been two weeks..... but Heather keeps me busy. It seems like longer, because she makes me clean house every single day. My dad works, so she waits till he leaves the next day. Lucas help me sometimes, that or he defends me and tells her to lay off. But she still makes me her slave... she practically hates me.
But I've been dating Blake for t.hree months, tomorrow. We're going to celebrate together, he's going to take me out to dinner after the celebration of the wedding. Blake is my second best friend, after Madison of course. Madison is always first. But Blake and I, it's more than that. We have a special connection. He was a good boyfriend. I mean, I am a player and all, but he had always been my favorite guy. Maybe that was because I'd known him longer than any other guy, he was my first kiss, he was always there for me no matter what, and he never gave up on me. For the most part we knew each other so well, and we could tell each other anything. Plus, we'd known each other since we were three, and have been best friends ever since. I met Madison the same day.
Anyway, I fed the horses, brushed them, and took care of everything else I had to. Then I went upstairs to hang out with Lucas. He was laying on my bed, the back of his head was resting at the end of my bed, and he was looking at me.
"You done?" he asked.
"Yeah." I said plopping on my comfy chair in front of him.
"What do you want to do now?"
"I don't know.... what do you want to do?"
"I want to spend some time with dad."
"Okay..... Let's go. He's still at work right?"
"Yeah, we can just go visit him."
"Okay."
We both hopped in the car and drove towards dad's work.
When we got there, we decided to take him out for pizza since it was noon. We both ran into the building and went to his office.
We knocked. "Yes?"
"Sir, we were wandering if you would like to take the afternoon off with your kids." Lucas said in a professional voice.
"I believe I may... Which kids?" dad played along.
"Oh, just the Olsen twins." Luke replied in the same voice.
"Oh, no. I don't think so."
"Then will these two do?" he said as he pulled me into the room with him.
"Oh, naw..... I don't think so." dad joked.
"Okay, well then we'll just go get pizza without you." I said, and pulled Lucas with me.
"Wait... I think I can manage to survive pizza with you."
"Are you sure?" I asked him.
"Yes." he smiled at me.
We drove up to our normal place, and we ordered our special. An olive oil, pineapple, stuffed crust, pizza.
"So why did you guys come visist me?" he asked suspiciously.
"Because I missed my daddy." I sweetly said.
"Really?"
"Yes, father." i said.
We talked for a while. I felt as if this was my last time with him.
We got some ice cream, and then we played baseball. After that, dad had to go back to work.
Lucas and I drove back to the farm... I had a feeling everything was about to change....
When we got home, everything was normal. Heather made me clean the kitchen. After that, I went to the barn. I saw Angel out of the corner of my eye. I went over to her.
"Why did my mom have to die? And why can't dad's new wife be nice?" I asked her.
She just neighed at me. I smiled and gave her an apple that I was hiding in my pocket. I petted her.
"Now don't tell anyone." I said secretively.
Then I went to the tackroom.. Lucas came in...
"Do you feel like something's wrong?" I asked him.
"Yeah... you feel that way too?"
"Yes... I don't know why though.... That's why I'm going to sleep in here tonight... To have mom all around me."
"You want some company?"
"Naw... I'll be okay. Just tell dad I''m in here, okay?"
"Okay..." he said, leaving me there.
There were plenty of blankets, so I didnt' have to go back in the house to get some.
I fell asleep easily. My mom was all I could think of... Her beautiful eyes, her hair... Everything... Dad always told me I looked like her.. I kind of did..
Mom was running through a field, the grass was up to her hip. I came running after her, carrying a bundle of daisies.
"Get down!" she said, laying on her belly.
"Where are they?" I asked.
I was only nine then.... I was so cute with the braids she put in my hair.
"There they are!" she pointed.
"They're gorgeous." I said, as my eyes gazed upon the beautiful group of wild horses, so free.
"I know. Do you want to catch one?" she asked me.
"They are too beautiful to tame." I said.
"No, they tame. But your right, they are meant to be free, and they have the spirit in them. But that's what makes them even more brilliant. They have such a better connection with humans. Expecially humans like you, that have the wild spirit. Your so strong, and one day, you'll meet the man of your dreams. But until then... you got me."
"And Blake!" I chimed in.
She laughed. "Yes, and Blake."
My dream was shattered, someone was waking me up. They were shaking me with fright. I woke up.
"What?" I woke up, tears in my eyes.
"The barn is on fire! We have to get out of here!"
My eyes went wide. "What about the horses?" I said, jumping up.
"Dad is trying to get them out."
"Oh, shouldn't we help him?" I asked.
"No, he told us not to go over there. The fire is getting hotter."
"Then how did he go in."
"He just did."
I was worried, but I followed Lucas outside. He led me to the front of the house, so that we could still watch the fire... Hoing for dad to come out.
Before I knew if, tears were springing from my cheeks.
