Life was slow. Every week went by with much regret. At least five months. I barely got through the weeks. Sad as it is, Heather got meaner and meaner. It didn't help that dad just spent her time with Heather.

"Chloe!" came Heather's voice.

"What does she want now?" I groaned to Lucas who was sitting on my bed lounging around. Lucas laughed at me.

"Better go now, or the witch won't be happy." Lucas said.

"Oh, why don't you go and see what she wants."

"Because I wasn't the one that she called, now get  your butt out there."

I groaned and went out of my bedroom.

"Yeah, Heather?"

"Get down here!"

I rolled my eyes as I hurried down the stairs.

"What?" I asked when I got to the bottom stair in front of her.

"Oh. Don't get an attitude, girl. Your dad said for me to tell you to go in the tackroom."

"Okay, okay."

I walked away from Heather, rolling my eyes at the way she treated me. It was like I was her slave, she didn't treat anyone else like she treated me. It was annoying, like she had a grudge against me.

I opened the door to the barn and went inside. Walking towards the tackroom, I stepped in.

"Hey, sweet cakes." my dad smiled at my prescence.

We'd always had a connection. I always knew that it had a little bit to do with how much I looked like my mom. He'd told me before, and I could tell by the pictures I'd seen that I was spot on. It was like we were twins.

"Chloe?" my dad said with a worried expression on his face.

I snapped back to reality and realized I'd been daydreaming. "Sorry Dad, I was daydreaming." I said shaking my head at myself.

"It's fine, sweetheart."

"What did you want to tell me, again?"

"Oh, yeah. I wanted to know if you and Lucas wanted to go have some fun at the park. Or just go do something together."

"That would be great. I'll go ask Lucas what he wants to do."

"Okay. I'll go get in the car."

I rushed into the house, racing up to my room. Lucas was on my bed where I'd left him.

"Get your butt off my bed, you lazy dude."

"Why? What are you so happy about?" he asked as he looked up at me.

"Dad wants to take us somewhere, so we can hang out." I said excited.

"Oh, really? Where?"

"He doesn't know, he wanted us to decide."

"Okay, what do you want to do?"

"I don't know I wanted to ask you."

"Oh, well I think we should go to the park by the school and play catch."
