What if I stopped pretending?
what if I stopped pretending to be
who you like?would you still love me
the same as you did?The way your tone changes
from grave to bright when
I did something you loved,
told you wouldn't love me.What if I showed you my true self?
the way I think, the way I speak,
the way I dress, the way I smile
Is the way you want it to be.
What if I changed that to show my real self? You wouldn't love me, right?
because I'll no longer be
the clay that you can mold
Or the mannequin that you can dress
Or a parrot that you can train to
speak.You don't love me.
So don't say I love you,
Say I love the 'you' I made.
