Cale lay in bed, contemplating his situation. By now, Hans should have informed his father and the rest of the family that he was awake. What mattered most now was how Cale would handle things moving forward. He needed to avoid being caught or dragged into any further trouble. Hans could be a crucial asset, unlike Ron, who had stayed out of duty. Hans had remained loyal to Cale until his death.
'What happened to Hans after I died?' The thought briefly crossed his mind.
Although Hans had been by his side in his last life, it didn't mean he wasn't currently following his father's orders and reporting everything back to him. Cale needed to secure Hans's loyalty before anything else. Hans was integral to his plans.
As if on cue, a knock came at his door. "Young master, may I come in?" Hans's voice called from the other side.
"Yes," Cale replied shortly.
Hans entered the room, closing the door behind him. "Young master, your father has asked you to join them for lunch later today," he said, smiling at the young master he served.
"Alright," Cale paused, then continued. "Hans, I want you to work for me," he said bluntly.
"What do you mean, young master?" Hans asked, puzzled.
"I want you to work for me, not my father," Cale reiterated.
Hans was taken aback by the sudden statement. What could the young master have planned that required his loyalty? Could he even help the young master? Thoughts raced through his mind.
"I'll keep you as my butler, but you'll need to be on my side. No more reporting to my father about everything I do and every decision I make." Cale was perceptive and knew Hans had been reporting to his father. Ron had done something similar but was more discreet.
Hans stood there, considering. He knew how the other staff at the Henituse estate treated the young master and the Count's harsh treatment of his son, a treatment he never agreed with. Perhaps working under the young master was what he needed to provide him some peace.
"I'll be more than happy to, young master," Hans finally said.
"Very well. You'll still report to my father, but not the truth," Cale nodded. He knew Hans was loyal, but trust needed to be earned.
The day passed quickly. Cale had dinner with his family but took the rest of his meals in his room. He had secured Hans's allegiance, yet he still needed to test his loyalty. One could never be too sure. During dinner, his father spoke only briefly, saying, "I'm glad you're better, son. You should rest more to fully recover." His stepmother advised him to drink a certain tea for the pain, the name of which he had already forgotten. Lilly cried and wished him well, hesitant at first to approach him. Basen, though not tearful, also wished him a speedy recovery and expressed displeasure at their father's decision to let Choi Han rest at the estate after beating Cale half to death.
It had been quite a day, but now Cale had a visitor.
"You know it's bad manners to enter through someone's window, don't you?" Cale said to the person standing in front of his window.
"Oh, please, as if that's ever bothered you," the person responded.

I just wanna say this wasn't what I had in mind nor did it turn out the way i wanted it too but i decided to screw it and publish it anyways as I'll probably not be able to update for an even longer time. Even though it's summer break I've been so busy and things pop up left and right. Also anyone have any good song recommendations? Besides the point hehe i went to my Doc were I kept the one I re-edited and decided it was better so I deleted what I had and pasted what I had on my docs here. Same lines and everything just a bit more well written. There maybe some mistakes probably.🤷♀️
