Preeti and Ajay got freshened up and sat down at the dining table. The silence between them was heavy, with neither of them knowing how to start the conversation. Ajay finally broke the silence, repeating the question he had asked earlier.

"You said all your love goes to your husband. What about this sudden ex and everything?" he questioned.

Preeti sighed deeply. "He was my fiancé, and he cheated on me."

Ajay raised an eyebrow. "We are on the same boat, it seems."

"Same boat? No, it's not the same, Ajay. We were about to get married," she said, her voice cracking with emotion. "We were about to get married, but he ended up doing things like this."

Ajay's heart sank. "You still wanted to marry him?" he asked, his voice tinged with hurt.

"No, not now. Just this morning, I discovered he was cheating on me," she said, her voice trembling.

"Then, it doesn't mean you cheated on him, right?" Ajay said, trying to make sense of it all.

"Cheated on him? What are you talking about?" Preeti asked, confused.

"Yes, you married me before finding out he was cheating on you. That means you cheated on him," Ajay said, a slight smile on his face.

Preeti was utterly speechless. "I did not cheat on him. The circumstances made it happen, Mr. Deshmukh. Look, I never intentionally did it. That guy had been dumping me for the past year, and I didn't even know it. And my friend Shreya, she knew, but she didn't tell me because I wouldn't have believed her. I was madly in love with that dumb asshole."

Ajay listened quietly, trying to understand her pain. "So, you didn't know he was cheating until after we got married?"

"Exactly," Preeti said, her voice filled with frustration. "I was blindsided. I thought he loved me, but he was just using me."

Preeti and Ajay found themselves in a surprising situation, trying to figure out their new circumstances. Preeti was puzzled as she looked at Ajay, curious about what he was going to say.

"We were both cheated on. Have you ever been cheated on like we were left behind in the forest?" Preeti asked, hoping to connect with him.

Ajay nodded seriously. "Yes, I've been cheated on too. When I found out, she made a big scene," he admitted, sounding hurt.

"Wow, really? That's hard to believe," Preeti said, surprised by his confession.

"And now, Mrs. Deshmukh, it's time to sleep," Ajay announced, changing the subject.

Preeti raised an eyebrow. "Okay, then where's my room?"

"Your room? No, my room," Ajay replied casually. "So, you expect me to sleep beside you?" Preeti asked, sounding skeptical.

Ajay chuckled softly. "Then should I sleep on the floor?" he teased back, finding her reaction amusing.

"Just... be quiet," Preeti muttered, feeling flustered. "Why isn't there another room?"

Ajay interrupted her. "We are sleeping together, Preeti. That's final," he stated firmly. "And before we sleep, I'm not asking for your permission. I'm telling you to follow my lead," he added with a tight smile.

Feeling cornered, Preeti reluctantly settled on the edge of the bed. Ajay pulled her closer, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"And please don't move around like you did before. I couldn't sleep," Ajay instructed.

Feeling tired and overwhelmed, Preeti quietly agreed with a soft hum.

"Thank you for trusting me," Ajay whispered in her ear, causing butterflies in her stomach.

"Trust what?" Preeti murmured back, her voice barely audible.

"Trusting me with your past," Ajay replied softly. "There's no need to keep secrets."

Before she could respond, Ajay kissed her neck and said goodnight.

Later that night, Ajay brought up another topic.

"Preeti," he began.

"Hmm?" Preeti responded sleepily.

"I'm arranging for your father to receive better care for his health issues. His current hospital might not be the best for him," Ajay explained.

Preeti nodded, feeling grateful. "I'll pay you back soon. Thank you," she said sincerely.

As they settled in for sleep, Preeti felt an unexpected sense of calm amid the uncertainties of her new life.

....

The next morning, Preeti woke up to find the bed completely empty. Feeling tired, she opened her eyes and saw Ajay dressed in a black Armani suit.

"Stop staring, Mr. Deshmukh," Ajay teased.

"I'm not staring at you," Preeti replied.

"Get ready," Ajay instructed.

"For what?" Preeti questioned.

"To the office," he said.

"The office? It's Sunday. You want me to come to the office on Sundays too? Mr. Deshmukh, this is too much. I'm not doing this. Please," Preeti protested, feeling overwhelmed.

"What's there to think about? You're coming with me. Get ready in ten minutes," Ajay said confidently before leaving the room.

Preeti started to scold him. "This is absolutely ridiculous! I can't believe you expect me to work on Sundays. It's not fair!"

After they both sat for breakfast, the conversation continued.

"I can't believe you're making me go to the office on a Sunday," Preeti complained.

"I don't see the problem. We have work to do," Ajay replied casually.

.
.

Preeti clicked the 14th floor button in the elevator.

"Are you crazy? We're supposed to go to the 17th floor," Ajay remarked.

Once inside Ajay's cabin, Preeti found herself staring at him.

"Why are you staring at me?" Ajay teased.

"What do you expect me to do?" Preeti questioned.

"I don't expect anything. Just start working," Ajay said, causing Preeti to feel speechless.

She decided to work.

Throughout the day, they bantered and argued playfully.

"I can't believe you're so stubborn," Preeti remarked.

"I could say the same about you," Ajay countered with a smirk.

After a series of lighthearted arguments and flirtatious exchanges, they finally returned home. Despite the challenges, Preeti couldn't help but feel a sense of camaraderie with Ajay, even if their interactions were filled with playful friction.
