Chapter 3

Far from expectation

Mrs. Frank guided me to where the dining area is in this mansion and let me tell you this, Adelaide's home is reaaally big, well considering that it is a mansion, still I am not used to it. like hello? I came from the orphanage, lived in my own, and I was just renting a small apartment that only one person could fit back when I was still outside of this novel. Obviously, I am not used with this princess treatment thingy. 

Feeling ko nga kung wala si Mrs. Frank na siyang sinusundan ko ngayon ay baka kanina pa akong naliligaw at hindi na ako makaka-abot sa lunch ng pamilyang Aoschiel, baka umagahan na ang abutan ko kinabukasan.

I will be lying if I said I wasn't nervous to face Adelaide's family because I really am very nervous right now. Lalo na't ang mga scenarios na naiisip ko ay sobrang nakakatakot ang pamilya na ito na sobrang posible dahil hindi ko naman talaga kilala ang pamilyang Aoschiel (pwede ring oa lang talaga ako mag-isip.) I may be exaggerating but what can I do? I am born without a family. Ni hindi ko alam kung paano ako makikitungo sa kanila. 

I actually don't care if they are harsh, it's not that hard to act like I don't have a family even in this world because from the start, I don't really have one. If they are lovely, it's fine by me. Maybe I'm not actually nervous and scared because they could be a terrifying family as I was thingking but because of the thought that I am not yet ready for another rejection.

"We're here, miss," Mrs. Frank announced which stop my trail of thoughts.

I held her hands and I noticed the shock on her face. When the knight beside the door noticed our arrival, he opened the door and so Mrs. Frank guided me inside. I took a deep breath and follow her.

There I saw a blonde middle-aged man who looks to be in his late 30's and a young boy with the same hair color who looked to be in the same age as Adelaide on a wide ten-seater dining table. I have a wild guess that these two is Adelaide's father and her twin brother. 

Both of them turn to look at our way when they notice us and to my shock, the young boy jumps out of his seat and ran towards us. Napaatras ako at napa-bitaw sa kamay ni Mrs. Frank ng bigla ako nitong yakapin ng mahigpit. 

"Sister!" he shouted, and I just stood there letting a stranger who suddenly calls me sister hug me. Hindi ko alam kung ibabalik ko ba ang yakap niya, ang alam ko lang ay parang may mainit na kamay ang humaplos sa puso ko ng yakapin niya ako.

Panandalian itong bumitaw sa pagkakayakap nito sa akin at tiningnan ako nito ng may...pag-aalala? 

"Are you alright now? How are you feeling? Are you hurt somewhere? Tell me so we could call a doctor to check on you, sister!" he said with pure concern. Why is this feeling so warm? It feels so comfortable. "Why are you not talking sister? Are you feeling uncomfortable? Where does it hurt?" He then again asked when I didn't respond, and I was shocked when I can see his eyes getting watery like he was about to cry so I smiled and held his cheeks.

"I'm fine brother, you don't have to worry about me. Besides, I didn't get endured severely anywhere," I don't know why but I wanted to assure this boy that I'm fine, so I won't see him cry. Is this the feeling of having a brother? I wanted to protect him even though right now, we're just the same age.

"A-are you sure?" he asked, and I pouted because I imagined him as a puppy right now asking for food from his master. So cute! Tinanguan ko ito at maya maya lang ay may narinig akong umubo ng peke.

"Aden, let your sister sit and eat. She must be hungry now since she hasn't eaten yet," said the man who I guessed to be their father using a very gentle voice that I didn't expect.

"Yes father, sister take a seat beside me!" Adenlard or Aden said full of energy now, opposite from his attitude earlier that seems to about to cry.

I smiled and took the seat beside him as he suggested.

"Eat now my daughter, you should get your energy back," Adelaide's father said with the same gentle voice.

"Yes sister, eat the veggies, it'll help you recover faster!" Aden added. I did what I was told to do. The dining table is full that I thought there's a feast going on. 

I taste the meat and it was so tender and delicious that I fell in love with it in just one bite. I also tried the chicken pot pie soup that Aden told me to have, and it was heaven! It was so creamy, and it was loaded with tender chicken and vegetables. As a food lover girl, I would love to eat all of this every day! When we were done with all the main course, the maids serve us desserts. I was so full not just with food but also from happiness. 

We talked like a real family which I didn't expect because this scenario is far from what I just expected before coming here.

Adelaide's father looks younger than his age and I could see where Adelaide gets the genes came from. Her father really looks handsome like those prince that you could only see in movies with his blonde hair and emerald eyes that looks at his children with pure tenderness. Aden, on the other side has the same features only he was a younger version. They are twins but Adelaide got her feature from their mother and Aden from their father. Despite that, we looked very much alike.

 I didn't even notice that I was smiling that whole afternoon.  I was guilty because I am not the real Adelaide, I am not the real daughter, I am not the real sister, and it makes me sad to think that I felt the feeling of having a family in others but never with mine. But even all of that sadness, this family made me feel wanted and loved that I was so happy I met them. It makes me want to cherish and protect them.

If this is what I felt like to have a family, I'm actually loving it.

They give me a whole new mission. And I will achieve that even if I have to go against the plot of this novel world.

Time flies and I am now here in my room wearing a pretty nightdress that the maids made me wear. I am writing the important events that I could remember from the novel and jotting down my future plans. It's not much actually just befriending the villain, preventing the events that could ruin the Aoschiel house, preventing Adelaide's death, revealing the dirty secrets of the female lead and saving the royal family from her evilness.

In short, I'm planning to ruin the story before I start planning how I could go back from my world and if there is still a way out. You know, I could already be dead or just in a coma, so I'll just find that out after fixing this damned novel.

Inunat ko ang bagong katawan na kinalalagyan ko ngayon bago tumayo at hinawi ang malaking kurtina ng floor-to-ceiling window ng kwarto ni Adelaide. I could see from here the beautiful garden of this mansion filled with different kinds of flowers. Maybe I'll take a walk on that garden tommorow with Mrs. Frank.

Kita ko rin ang papalubong na araw at hindi rin magtatagal ay didilim na. Sinabi ng ama nina Adelaide na kaya hindi daw siya makakasabay sa amin mamaya sa hapunan. I was sad when I heard that but I understand that he was busy. Dadalhin na lang siguro ang hapunan ko dito mamaya.

Babalik na sana ako sa kama ng may makita ko ang isang tumatakbong kabayo sa ibaba sakay ang isang batang lalaki na may kahel na buhok. Nagulat ako ng tumingin ito sa direksiyon ko at nagtama ang aming paningin. His dark orange eyes look straight at my black ones. Naputol ang tingin ko sa kaniya ng kumatok si Mrs. Frank at sinabihan akong hinahanap ako ni Aden.

Bago ko siya tugunin ay muli akong tumingin sa ibaba ngunit wala na doon ang batang lalaki kaya't nagkibit-balikat na lamang ako.
