Seventh Year

It's a cold December night filled with brutal rain that bites due to its alarming chill. Audrey hears it pelt against the outside of the massive castle of Hogwarts. A heavy fog sets out onto the school grounds and ever-so-gently caresses the glass windows of the Great Hall.

She does her best to ignore the rumbles of thunder that blast in the far distance. But the quick strikes of blue and purple lightning cause a comforting aesthetic that she's been craving.

Her slightly tan hands with black-yellow bruises and cuts on the knuckles move at excellent speed to write all the notes she needs to record. There are many aspects of muggle motor vehicles that she admires. Such as an engine and all the work it does for the cars to actually move.

Audrey continues to lean close to her notebook, her nose almost touching the soft cream-colored page. She prefers to keep all of her notes in one place rather than carry a bunch of loose parchments. It's better to not risk tripping and they all scatter into the wind.

Her stomach hums from being too full. She arrived to dinner late tonight and stuffed her face full of whatever chicken drums and mashed potatoes were left before it all disappeared back into the kitchens. There were other students within the hall to let the house elves know to send up dessert.

She munches on a thick slice of pecan pie as she studies a specific paragraph on how the engine powers headlights. The structure of the wires is truly intriguing. How all of it connects is utterly fascinating.

Audrey doesn't notice a person sitting down on the bench next to her until they're gripping her shoulder tightly. She has been so entranced by the text before her that her sense of people didn't get the chance to flare.

"Fuck off!" She exclaims loudly. Her shocked voice booms throughout the hall and alerts the remaining students and professors. But not enough to cause them to panic.

By this point, most are aware of how high her tone can get. Though a good few still care enough to stir clear of her. At least people aren't totally idiotic.

"For Merlin's sake! You truly are a freak." Lucius Malfoy sneers into her face. His straight pearly teeth just waiting to take a bite out of her jugular.

Audrey attempts pulling away from his grasp. Her brother only clutches her Gryffindor robe tighter, his fingers digging into her covered flesh. It will bruise later on. Just another injury she caused that will have to be mended. Though she rather not take another visit to the infirmary.

"What do you want?" Her crisp words cut through the air like a slippery blade.

His snow-white hair drips over his broad shoulders as Lucius leans forward. Much too close for her liking.

"Mother and Father are angry with you. Why can't you play the part of a good student and stay out of trouble?" Lucius's eyes dart around to sneak a glance at the remaining students in the hall.

They're staring at them, closely. But they quickly look elsewhere when he meets their eyes. It's considered rude to meet a Malfoy's gaze. Her parents made sure of that when they attended this school.

Audrey gives a gaspy laugh. Her messy bun lets strands of gold tickle her neck as she shakes her head. She had been wondering when her parents sent a letter to him. They always tend to voice their nasty opinions of her through her brother. Never can they speak their vile words directly to her.

She knows why of course. The fear of the Curse is too great for them to even sit in the same room as her for longer than a few minutes.

"Because I'm a Curse that everyone should fear. Better yet, why don't you scoot down a bit before my Cruse rubs off on your clothes. We wouldn't want you to mysteriously combust or melt into a bloody puddle!" Audrey seethes through gritted teeth.
