Seventh Year"You've been staring at that same page for a solid thirty minutes. You're wasting my precious study time." Sirius Black spoke around the small cherry-flavored lolly that he's been sucking on since he arrived in the library. His words are sluggish due to the unusual amount of red-stained saliva that gathers on his tongue.
Audrey Malfoy angrily closes the thick history about airplanes with a slam. The action causes gray flurries of dust to fill the space between them.
Her cheeks are tinged with a sickening pink as she roughly stands on her feet.
"What's the matter, Malfoy? You've been in this ridiculous funk since breakfast." His once flirty tone quickly became one of slight concern.
She ignores this as she roughly tosses her heavy golden braid down to the middle of her back. Her heart flutters madly inside her chest. It's hard to contain the rage that has been mingling within her since her encounter with Headmaster Dumbledore early this morning.
For some odd reason, he was very harsh with her. It is almost like he disapproves of her teaching methods for Mr. Black. Well, he should be a tutor and see how he likes it!
Audrey hears the scraping of chair legs as Sirius also rises. His curiously soft footsteps patter behind her.
Despite wearing a hefty dark green knitted sweater a chill soaks into her bones. Christmas is on the way and so is the brutal Scottish winter.
"Whatever is it, why let it get to you? You normally ignore everyone unless they have or will possess something you want." His on-point observation of her only fuels her irritation.
But he is right. She isn't going to let him know it either.
She feels his too-warm of a presence close behind her. The heat rolling off of him in waves tries its best to wrap around her. Audrey shivers as her body fights against it.
A slopping noise that's way too close to coming from Sirius enjoying his lolly echoes into her eardrum.
"Our session is over for the night. You may leave." Audrey ignores his words.
She attempts to go around him but Sirius catches her arm in his large hand. His sudden touch causes her to freeze. She pins her eyes to the large window that is currently saturated with moonlight. It would be more illuminated if it were full.
His fingers dig into her sweater in an almost pleasant way. It causes Auredy to shift uncomfortably on her feet. She really wants to return to the girls' dorms to relax her rushing mind.
Sirius leans down closer, his hot breath scented with cherries tickling her neck. Goosebumps flare across her skin in wicked waves. Her heart won't stop racing. And yet the anger inside of her refuses to back down. Something in Audrey is craving a fight. But is Sirius the right target?
The taller boy with perfectly dark hair shook his head in disbelief. "When we are here alone you don't have to pretend. You reveal yourself to me, your mind I mean."
For some reason, flashes of this morning fill her mind. Having to vividly remember Dumbledore's slight frown breaks her spirit more than she wants. With the recent grades Sirius received in class, she figured they were making great progress. She was beginning to enjoy their secluded study sessions.
But now after being told she isn't doing enough changed it all. Just being in this library late in the night with him makes it worse. Why can't she do anything right? She knows the true reason why. Her being Cursed never fails.
