18. Unicorn Everything!

I woke up at 06:30 earlier than usual for me, but I progressed. I had a shower, straightened hair, did my makeup, and put on a cute outfit all by 07:10. Elena had texted me saying she wanted me to pick her up since Bonnie still hadn't come back to school. We couldn't rush her back she's lost her grandmother, for gods sake. I told her I would be there in 5 minutes. I left a note on the refrigerator for Tyler before I left, taking the car.

"Hey, it's me!" I walk up to the Gilbert residence. I put my phone and keys in my back pocket as I closed the car door behind me. "John?" I say surprised as I see Elena and Jeremy's uncle at their door.

Jeremy walked past me, waving a quick 'hi' as he continued walking on. John averted his eyes to me.

"Julia Lockwood! I haven't seen you in a while. How's your father? I was thinking about meeting up with him soon. I have business here, and I could use his help." He waved his hand over, stepping through the door frame. I walked over to grab the coffee Elena was offering me.

"He's, uh, good. I'm sure he'll be more than ecstatic to see you back in town." I feed his ego with lies. Yes, my father and him were 'friends,I guess they were on the council together, and I've known John my whole life. He's kind of an asshole. Just doesn't know when to shut up.

"We've got to get to school." Elena says as John steps back in the house. Jenna behind him. I smile at her, and she does the same back. Elena and Jenna share an equal, terrified look.

"What the hell is he doing back?" I ask her, taking a sip of the hot coffee in my hands.

"I have no idea, didn't say. Just something about business, I don't know. I wasn't really listening." Elena walks to the passenger seat of my car.

I pluck my keys from my back pocket as I laugh. "How long is he staying?" I unlock the car opening the drivers seat, placing my coffee in the holder.

"Mhh, I don't know." She shrugged, still saying she wasn't listening.

I chuckle, turning on the radio and taking one more sip before starting the car back up, driving off to school.

"Bye, Care. Call me if you need anything. Love you." I say goodbye to my best friend while washing my hands in the bathroom. I ended the call and walked out of the bathroom. I nearly jumped out of my sink whe. Elena came up behind me and ushered me into Alarics' classroom.
I place my hand on my heart, staring at her in horror.

"I made a copy of the paper Jeremy wrote for me." Alaric sat on the edge of his desk as me and I sat on the student chairs in front of his desk.
"I think you should look at it." He hands the paper too, Elena, as I slide down into the chair to sit properly. I let out a yawn and feel a buzz in my pocket. I suspected it was Caroline, but it turned out it was Damon.

"Can you guys fill me in later. I have to go home. My mother needs help with founders' day stuff." I pull myself up off the chair and reach the door. I pull the door open and wave to my friends before leaving the premises. I hop back in my car and call Damon back.

"What do you want, Damon?" I start the car hoping no one could hear me talking.

"We hello to you too, anger issues." He teases, I could practically feel his smirk through the phone. I place my mobile on the passenger seat before buckling up my seat belt.

"What do you want, Damon? Or else I'm gonna hang up." I 'threatened' him as I started backing up out of the parking lot.

"Fine. I want you to come with me for a drink? Or two." Whilst he was talking, I could hear voices in the background of the phone slowly fade.
