Rage twisted and churned inside me, a relentless inferno ready to engulf me entirely. I held it back as I approached his office in the warehouse, where I was greeted by several men, some preparing for soldier training.

Greetings were the last thing on my mind, I was here to delve into the depths of his twisted mind and understand why he persisted with the abhorrent business of human trafficking, even though he knew it was something Dad vehemently opposed.

My steps came to a sudden stop as I clenched my fists tightly while facing Drake Burton, the underboss, his taunting smirk tempted me to strike,

But every time my mind got urges to embrace violence Mom's voice and the promise I made to her rang in my head saving every asshole like the one standing in front of me,

"Drake, step out of the way," I commanded, my tone deceptively calm despite the fury building up within me. "I'm afraid I can't young master, Don is currently engaged with the associates and Capos. You'll have to wait," he explained. I clenched my jaw, giving him a piercing look.

I despise this fucking man! he always has this look in his eyes as if he knows something I don't and always seems to be mocking me which pisses me off and right now he is fucking with my already sour mood,

"Then go and tell Uncle I'm here and willing to talk to him this fucking instead!" I gritted out, he shook his head, "As I said, young master—"  I cut him off and brushed past him into the office,

I glanced around the room, meeting the eyes of all the capos and associates, but my gaze was fixed on my Uncle who didn't bother to acknowledge my presence.

It's somehow worth pondering how he has changed ever since I turned seventeen. He is less involved with me and didn't bother to call me like he used to do every weekend and it didn't sit well with me, he is the only father figure for me, hell! The only family I had left with,

I attempted to reassure myself that perhaps he was just preoccupied with work after opening new clubs in the city. However, his indifferent attitude now hints at something I dread to know.

Finally, he looked up and I hoped to see the familiar sparkle of brightness that always greeted me. Yet, to my surprise, there was a hint of something else in his gaze that left me feeling disheartened.

He had always taught me the significance of keeping emotions hidden, cautioning me about the potential exploitation by others at the table. Remembering his pedagogy, I swiftly concealed my disappointment masking it away.

"I want to talk with you uncle, it's urgent," I muttered he caught my eye and after a brief pause, he motioned for everyone to give us some privacy. As he faced me, a forced smile appeared on his countenance, failing to reach his eyes.

"What a present surprise son! I thought I'd get to see you on Jasper's birthday, anyways tell me what brings you here instead of home first." He  leaned forward putting his joined hands under his chin and elbows on the table,

"I heard you have embarked on human trafficking again is it true?" I muttered having received this information from my most reliable sources,

However, if he denied I knew I'd believe him, he laughed lightly diverting his gaze from me. 'if someone avoids eye contact while answering, it usually means they're concealing something' another valuable lesson he taught me.

"No son! Now why would I do that? It's not like our other businesses aren't thriving but I've recently started leveraging the talents of migrants near the borders by deploying them to countries where they can help us broaden our reach." He cleverly maneuvered his answer.
