It was a bright and sunny day in Vietnam, though none of the bright light from the beaming sun was able to penetrate the impossibly thick canopy of the jungle. Mosquitos buzzed around, frogs croaked, birds chirped and cawed and monkeys howled as they swung through the treetops.
A small and shallow river snaked upon the ground of the the jungle, the water flowing calmly. Small fish and the occasional water snake swam through its waters. A frog croaked loudly upon a stone before jumping into the water, being scared off. A green jungle boot slowly inserted itself into the water as to not make a splashing noise, finding its place on the river bed before the other boot was raised out of the water.
Jonas slowly scanned from left to right, a CAR-15 in his hands. The compact Carbine having been painted in dark green and black stripes, helping break up the shape of the rifle and to help it blend into the surrounding foliage.
He wore green and black jungle boots, black jungle pants which have been bloused Into his boots, a tigerstripe camoflauge jacket with rolled up sleeves as well as a tigerstripe camoflauge boonie hat. He wore an OD Green Alice rig, a plethora of pouches adorning it as they lined his waist. A Chicom chest rig upon his chest held extra magazines for his CAR-15, the chest rig being spray painted in a striped pattern with dark green and black stripes.
His face and forearms were adorned with green and black body paint, helping to camoflauge himself better amongst the jungle. He wore a small ruck upon his back, holding mission essential equipment, a radio antenna sticking out of the top of it, being kept folded as to not snag on the abundant foliage within the Jungle. Attached to the right side of his ruck was a large machete which was in its sheath. He had to use the massive blade to hack through what seemed like a miles worth of bushes and vines, so bringing it was definetly worth it. And upon the left side of his Alice rig was his tomahawk, folded up and clipped onto the Molle of the rig.
He continued his slow wade through the river. The water was surprisingly cold, a strange contrast to the impossibly humid and hot environment of Vietnam. Ever since he traveled to this Universe, he had started sweating buckets. Though he was trained to operate in any and all climates, it didn't mean he was particularly comfortable being embalmed in sweat.
He heard the crack of twigs and the rustle of bushes infront of him and he stopped, raising his carbine towards where the sound came from. His finger went to the trigger of the weapon, lightly applying pressure to it, readying himself to fight. The bushes began to rustle next to the rivers edge, Jonas taking aim and readying to fire.
A large Indochinese Tiger emerged from the foliage, it's mouth hung slightly ajar. It stared at Jonas, lowering itself as it looked Jonas up and down, seemingly sizing him up. Jonas slowly backed away, his carbine still raised. This Tiger looked like it was about to strike at any time. It began to growl lowly as it stayed low to the ground, slowly walking towards Jonas.
He didn't want to fire his carbine and give away his position, but a Tiger of this size could seriously hurt him. He seemingly had no choice but to fire.
Suddenly he heard a faint buzzing noise, causing both him and the Tiger to look upwards. He recognized the sound, they were helicopters. Almost as fast as the sound reached his ears, 3 UH-1 Huey Gunships thundered overhead, scaring the Tiger off. Jonas watched as they flew over, looking in the direction they were headed. Miguel gave him an approximation of where he was supposed to go, and those Helis would lead Jonas straight to it.
