One word...weird. We ended up going through the trap door like stupid people and now we're...here. Where is here? You may ask. Well on the other side of the trapdoor was a place with a beautiful blue sky, the same glowing cyan water, and millions of islands on the water. Each island had dots of purple, like clusters of flowers. Like the ones in the labyrinth.
We walked down marble spiral stairs leading from the trapdoor to the ground. I looked back at the trap door to realize that we had walked out of a huge tree. The tree was beautiful, same details like the islands. It reminded me of a huge wisteria tree.
While I was taking in the beauty, something happened. As soon as we stepped on the ground, everything turned gray. Flowers and grass died, the sky turned gray, the huge tree died. Everything in sight was drained from colour. It was like being in a black and white movie. The place seemed pretty deserted too. I heard a noise, it sounded like gears turning. When I looked back at the trap door it was gone and the stairs had disappeared too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We walked around the islands, hopping over the rivers that carved their way through the islands. We walked around a beautiful, almost hidden garden. Well, it wasn't exactly beautiful. It had no colour after all.
We came across an old building, it was completely gray. We went inside hoping for a trapdoor exit. All we saw was an empty room with an object in the centre lying on the floor. It was a necklace, a locket. I opened the locket to find a picture of me. Talk about creepy!
"Oh my god, ok this isn't good. We have to find an exit. We can't be stuck here!" Maeve said.
There was also a timer, it was already on. There was a label on it that said "Labyrinth timer". That could be very helpful. There was a note attached to the necklace, it said: Trust no one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~We were walking through this old junkyard on one of the islands. This island was in the very back. We could see open ocean from here. As we walked through, we came across a sign that said "Don't take anything". But of course knowing someone like Maeve, she took something. That 'something' was an old fashion design notebook.
That's when I heard it. A noise, the noise sounded like gears turning again but even louder. Then the sky turned black. Storm clouds moved in fast, we didn't have much time before the huge storm came.
Rain poured down, hard. Hail hit the piles of trash, which made a sound like breaking plates. Lightning struck everywhere. We had to run to shelter.
WE. HAD. TO. FIND. THE. EXITThis was serious, if we didn't get shelter. We'd be over.
"Maeve, drop the notebook!" I screamed over the deafening sound of the thunder.
She dropped the book but the rain didn't stop. We ran across the entire junkyard and we were now standing on a black sand beach. Overlooking the clear blue waters. I saw something, a light. I squinted through the rain. It was a trapdoor. I checked the labyrinth timer in my pocket. It said "1 minute and 21 seconds" until the trapdoor is gone.
I looked to the left of me and spotted an old wooden boat with oars. It looked like with one touch it would fall apart. But it was our best shot against all odds.
"We have to get in that boat!" I pointed.
"Look at it! It'll fall apart on the water! Especially with this storm!" Maeve screamed, hail hitting her in the head.I grabbed her hand despite what she said. This was our only chance.
We got in the boat and I grabbed the oars to steer.
It was difficult steering in this rocking water. With the hail and rain pouring down on us. Thunder, lightning, all around us.We were getting rocked around and even more wet than we were before. The salt water burned my eyes. But I had to keep going. We were a meter away from the light. When it started to flicker. I quickly checked the timer. We had 13 seconds.
WE HAD. TO JUMP.
"Maeve we don't have time, we have to jump!" I yelled.Before she could answer. I grabbed her hand and jumped into the light, just as it closed.
