I'd never been in a jail cell ever before but it was not a pretty nor comfortable place to be for about 13 hours!
After Amalie had cuffed me, she put some sort of cloth to my face. It smelled pretty good but I blacked out after that. Somehow I ended up in some jail cell. All I could see was a huge wooden door, a light lit by fire inside a glass case sitting on a bench in my cell, no roof (just plain sky) and of course the standard- hard as rock- bed.
I sat in the centre of my dirty cell thinking about Maeve, Cassidy (I didn't even know where both of them are), how I could even trust Amaile, how I could get out of this mess and Cassandra's words. It was more of a warning that she gave me then a pep talk. The way she said that last bit was really creepy and gave me the chills. It only made me think of one thing though...what if Cassandra was my...just then Amalie turned the key in door so loudly it broke my thoughts.
She entered my dirty cell with a smug grin on her face. Her hair was tied back in ponytail, she was wearing an old oversized t-shirt and leggings. Her face looked older and more scared and bad than humanly possible (okay, maybe that is an exeraggeration). I could tell she wasn't being herself. I knew she didn't want to take me prisoner. The only thing I could think was...why was she doing this? Was someone controlling or threatening her? A bribe even?
"Who's doing this to you? Who's controlling you, Amalie?" I asked, a little harshly.
"No one" she cleard her throat, "I just want revenge" she grinned again.
"Revenge? For what? I did nothing but help you-"
Before I could continue my sentence a loud noise sounded, kind of like a boom. I'd actually never given one thought to where we actually were. We could be in big danger right now, mostly me.
Amalie looked at her wrist. It was my watch! She had fixed it and was now using it to navigate the labyrinth. She made a shocked face and said "It's time". Then she ran out of my cell and with a click-clack! She locked my door.
I was now trapped with that booming sound. I just hoped I survived.

I might have sat in that cage for hours, minutes, seconds or days. I had no concept of time. Even though the top of the cell was wide open the sun never set. It stayed there and never moved. The clouds didn't move either.
I couldn't pick the lock with anything. It was iron. Unbreakable too. I tried to pick it with a bobbypin I found in my jean pocket. I tried a stick, a small sharp point of my bracelet and the clasp of the locket. I'd completely forgotten that even my creepy locked had tried to warn me! It was a pretty locket though. It was silver with a huge emerald in the centre and silver carved vines around it. I was surprise I still had it after all this time. I opened my locket again, it had words in it this time instead of a picture of me and said something different than the last time; You've done well but there's still something your missing...
Before I could contemplate that something happened. I heard someone's voice yelling "MADDIE!!!!!" I turned my head toward the sky. That's when I saw her...Cassidy. I was secretly hoping for Maeve, but I was very glad to see her too.
"I'm here to save you" she said, out of breath.
"Thanks, but why are you so out of breath?" I asked.
"Maybe because I just climbed a 300 foot mountain!".
"Oh! I didn't even know I was on a mountain. But that explains the cold draft!"
She rolled her eyes at me then hopped down from peaking over my cell with a thud. It sounded like she was throwing rocks at the door but whatever she did worked because she broke the door. I was finally out.

Once out of the cell, I finally saw where we were. On a huge yellow-orange mountain in an endless desert that was surprisingly not hot. While climbing back down the mountain, we saw that at the bottom was a huge canyon. So if we fell we'd be goners. We were super careful going down. But of course, that's when the worst came true. While walking/climbing down with no harness the ground beneath out feet cracked. Then...CRACK!...completely broke and we fell almost 30 feet down.
I don't know how we keep surviving these things!

"Boy, did that hurt!" I said.
"MHM!" she mumble screamed.
We heard the booming noise again. That's when the even more unthinkable happened. While lying on the canyon floor, the ground began to rumble. And I mean rumble!
I got up and peeled my cheek off the canyone floor and turned my head. What I saw was absolutely wild. It was deadly.
I saw horses, hundreds of them running towards us. We had to get out now. Or else we'd be goners for real!
I grabbed Cassidy's hand even though she didn't know what was happening.
And we ran for our lives...
