Luke Hemmings

I knocked quickly on her front door out of breath as I rested my hands on my knees as I was trying to catch my breath.

The door opened quickly with Renee holding a bat in her hands ready to swing before I backed up putting my hands up to defend myself. "oh my god Luke- why?"

"i need to get out." i said out of breath as I walked in having my chest being tight again. She placed the bat down as she shut the door coming up to me. "what's going on?"

"the.." i paused sitting on the couch, "the cameras saw me.."

"What cameras?" she asked as she sat next to me running her fingers through my hair trying to get me to calm down. "They know.." I said staring at the floor.

"who knows.." she asked as she tilted my face towards her. "my parent's security cameras caught me walking out of the house as I was on my way to you today.." I said looking at her with pain aching in my chest.

"I can't do it yet Ren.. i can't" i said having a singular tear wipe down my face as I looked away from her. She quickly got in my lap as she wrapped her arms around my neck pulling me close into a tight hug.

"I know.. i know" she hushed me as she played with the back of my hair. I held her close to me, having her help me calm down with my anxiety skyrocketing to the max.

"can i erm" i paused for a second, "stay here for the night?"

"of course" she smiled as she got up as I followed her into her room. I took my shoes off and placed them next to the bed. I laid down on her bed slowly as she looked at me, "what?" I asked.

"That's my side.." she said, giving me a small chuckle as I rolled my eyes and switched sides. "women" i chuckled as she hit my arm as she laid next to me.

She started to laugh as I looked at her, "now why are you laughing?" I asked her.

"Does your toe still hurt?" Jesus Christ this is gonna be a joke forever isn't it?

"no." I groaned as I rolled over not facing her. "Oh don't be a baby" she chuckled as she turned off the lamp on her stand. I chuckled a bit, rolling back over and facing her.

Her scent engulfed me immediately, it always had but it was stronger now. The soft moonlight that came through her blinds hit her face in the most perfect way. I saw her eyes dance across my face trying to read my expression.

"you need to see them Luke.." she mumbled as she danced her fingers across my bicep. I took a deep breath then shook my head. "No Luke, seriously. I mean what I say. Some people need to face the things we turn away from."

I looked into her eyes, "I don't even know how to start with it." I sighed laying on my back looking at the ceiling. "I stayed in that house all my life, and the dead years. I watched them for those years, missing me, crying, trying to text me or call me. But they assumed I ran away and left."

I felt her arm go across my chest as she pulled herself closer still listening to my rambling. "what if you go to the front door and just knock?" she questioned running her fingers over my chest.

I shook my head, "i just can't renee"

"do you want me to go with you?" she asked as she sat up a bit looking at me. I shook my head, "that's not how I want you to meet my family" i chuckled.

"technically i met your mom" she said as she gave me a cheeky smile. I rolled my eyes, "yeah stalking her facebook and finding where she works"

"i'm good at what I do" she chuckled. "oh by the way, when did you work at Publix?"
