He was covered in tattoos. He had a piercing on his lower lip and had blonde hair that was styled up. I noticed that had bracelets on his wrist along with a ring on his pinky.

He was my soulmate?

"Helena?" He said again. I couldn't stop staring at him. We were complete opposites.

"Uh yeah?" I mumbled.

Luke got up and walked towards me. Before I could say anything, he grabbed my right wrist and turned it over.

"Looks like I got a goody goody as a soulmate." I heard him say.

I jerked my hand back, taking it out of his grasp, "Excuse you!" Sure, I've been called that before but it seemed extra harsh coming from him. I could tell that I wasn't what he expected in a soulmate. Hell, he sure wasn't what I expected.

The door opened to the principal's office and he walked out.

"Mr. Hemmings. I told you to stay seated." Mr. Rutherford had his arms crossed against his chest. It was clear to see that he was frustrated.

I would be too if I was him.

"Sorry to be disobedient, but I just met my soulmate." Luke said while keeping his gaze on me. His blue eyes never left mine.

"Is that so?" I could tell Mr. Rutherford was surprised and maybe pitied me a little.

I wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out.

How the hell were Luke and I soulmates? It was sort of comical that we were supposed to be paired together for the rest of our lives.

Luke smirked and looked over at me, "Apparently."

"Helena, is there something that you needed?" Mr. Rutherford asked me.

I shook my head and walked to over to the desk where they collected attendance sheets.

I hurried out of the room before Luke could try to talk to me.

I wanted to go home. I suddenly felt nauseous.

I needed to talk to Calum. I knew that he had a free period first. I envied him for it. He normally spent it doing the homework that he should've done the night before.

I hoped that he was in the library. I couldn't think of anywhere else he would go.

The library was somewhat near the office so it only took me a few minutes to get there. I walked in and saw that he was sitting at one of the tables in the far corner.

I hurried over to him and sat down.

He jumped, clutching his chest, "Damn Lena! You scared the hell out of me!"

A couple of people around him shushed him. I would've laughed but I was too upset.

"I found my soulmate."

Calum's eyes went wide, "What? When? Who is it?"

"Luke Hemmings."

Calum thought about it for a second, "Luke Hemmings? Oh no. You don't mean that dude with the piercing and tattoos, do you?"

I nodded, "Calum, what am I going to do? I mean, look at us. How could we possibly be soulmates? We look like we have absolutely nothing in common!"

Calum reached over and touched my hand, "It's going to be okay. I'm sure that underneath his mean, asshole behavior is a somewhat decent guy."

I rolled my eyes and stood up, "I have to get back to class before I get detention."

He chuckled, "You should try and get it. I hear that's where Luke spends all of his free time."

I ignored his attempt at a joke and left the library. I went back to class hoping that I wouldn't run into my so called soulmate.

....

Lunch was my favorite class of the day. It was the most looked forward to forty-five minutes of the school day.

I found my cousin, Lucy with her boyfriend, Derrick at our usual table by the windows. I picked up a turkey sandwich, chips and cookie for lunch along with juice.

"I am having the day from hell." I said once I sat down.

"I ran into Calum earlier. He said that your soulmate is Luke Hemmings." Derrick said. I saw the pitied look once again.

"I can't believe it." Lucy said.

"Who are you telling?" I mumbled as I unwrapped my sandwich from its plastic.

"Did you guys talk?" My cousin asked.

I shook my head, "No, we didn't. It happened so quick. He was in trouble for something and I had to bring the attendance sheet for my class."

Calum walked over to our table with his friend, Ashton. Both of them played for the football team and were pretty popular. They usually sat with us most days or they say with their team.

"Hey, Lena. How are you feeling?" Calum asked as he took his usual seat next to me.

"I feel like running in front of a school bus."

"Okay, Regina George." Ashton laughed.

"Have you seen Hemmings since this morning?" Derrick asked ignoring Ashton's Mean Girl reference.

"Nope, I haven't thankfully."

I took a sip of my drink while my friends started talking about other things. I looked around the lunch room and saw him.

Luke was with a guy with bright blue hair. They were laughing at something. I had to admit, Luke was handsome. He probably had the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen.

I don't know if it was a soulmate thing, but he looked at me. Like we were the only two people in the room.

He stared at me for a moment before he winked. I rolled my eyes and looked away.

I continued having lunch with my friends when I saw him come over to me. I felt my heart start racing.

"Helena, I need to talk to you." He had his hands in his front pockets and looked only at me.

"I don't think she wants to talk to you." Calum said, standing up and facing him. I really wish he didn't pull the whole macho man card right now.

I stood up and touched his arm, "Cal, it's fine. I'll be right back."

Luke smirked at Calum before he walked to the doors that led outside. Some students liked to come outside to eat their lunch, but I wasn't the type of person that liked bugs around me while I ate.

There was a group of students that normally went out there to smoke.

Luke walked to a tree that provided excellent shade. He leaned against it, looking like a model, while I stood by awkwardly.

"What did you need to talk about?"

He scoffed lightly, "Isn't it obvious?"

"Look, I don't know if this is a form of karma or some kind of joke that the universe is playing on me, but I would really appreciate it if you laid off with the sarcasm." I told him.

He seemed surprised at my outburst, "Goody goody has some sass in her."

"If you don't have anything you need to tell me then I would like to get back to my friends." I started to walk away but I felt him grab my hand.

He turned it over and looked at his name in black ink.

"Are you disappointed?"

"What?"

"Are you disappointed that I'm your soulmate?" Luke asked me, continuing to look at my wrist.

"Are you going to give me a reason to be?"

"Time will tell, Lena."
