Once Percy was back in his room, alone, he began to feel suffocated. In his own skin. This isn't the first time it's happened, but it's the first time he was containing it because Nico had decided it was a good time to check in via Iris Messages. "Percy! What the fucking. Hell."
Percy quickly inhaled, and exhaled. "What? What's up?" Was Nico finally gonna tell him what was going on in camp?
"You- are you alone?" Nico asked, and Percy noticed Nico was alone.
"Yeah, I'm just in my room, look Nico is everything alright?"
"'IS EVERYTHING ALRIGHT?'" Nico screamed, although Percy realized tears were welling up in his eyes. "YOU TRIED TO FUCKING KILL YOURSELF, AND- AND YOU DIDN'T THINK 'LETS ASK FOR HELP FIRST?' OR MAYBE 'HEY THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO CARE, MAYBE LIKE NICO, WHO NEED ME.' YOU DIDN'T THINK ABOUT ME? ABOUT US?" Tears were streaming down Nico's face now, and Percy hadn't heard him scream so loud since- since Bianca died.
"I- I'm sorry, Nico. I wasn't thinking, but it was dark. And I don't want to burden anyone, I'm fine now. Pete saved me, he caught me and, I don't remember it but, people are saying I crashed through the building and I have a broken rib or two, some cuts but I'm fine."
That just seemed to make Nico more angry. Or sad? "I. Told. You. To. Call. Me. If. ANYTHING. Happened. What happened to 'I'll let you know if I get a paper cut?' Will's gonna kill me!"
"I'll tell him- wait. How did you know about my attempt?"
Nico cleared his throat and started playing with his rings. "You seriously think I, of all people, wouldn't notice when you're not yourself? I knew you did it because my dad screamed in my ear about it, thank the gods you were caught. He thought you were pushed, but I knew."
They sat there in silence for a good minutes, Nico wiping his eyes, until Percy heard a piercing scream cut through Avengers Tower. "I'm sorry, Nico. But I-"
"Paper cut, you tell me. Let me know if you need more drachmas, or just want to talk. If anyone knows where you're coming from, it's me. I've been there."
"Yeah- wait. What do you mean you've been there."
"I'm a Son of Hades, who wears long sleeves everywhere." Another scream. "You should answer that." And then Nico swiped through the mist.
