Chapter 9 - Unfortunate Staff

Monday rolls around and Kayla has been at the house all weekend. I'm glad Natasha has a friend, but something feels off about Kayla I'm not sure what, though.

"Good morning my love, how was your weekend with Kayla?" I ask Natasha as I was walking down stairs.

"It was nice and she mentioned that you needed a personal assistant a few times and that she would be happy to do it." She said very nonchalantly

"Kayla as my personal assistant? I mean. I would have to think about it. I'm not sure though."

"I thought it was a bit weird but I'm not worried."

"I'll look into it I got to head to the office and it might be a long day I'm not sure what time I'll be home, so don't wait up. But I'll see you tomorrow morning definitely"

"Okay hun. I won't be home til late tonight anyway. Kayla and I are going out for drinks after work."

"Ahh I see well I hope you have a wonderful day at work. Oh, and the mechanic called said that your truck will be ready by Friday."

"Awesome!"

I leave earlier than Natasha does as I have some meetings I need to attend to. All day I think about taking Kayla on as my personal assistant I'm not really sure I actually need one but it might be nice. I talk to some people around the office after the meetings I had with Phillip and my father about some new shipments coming in and some issues in warehouse.

Everyone is in agreement that I needed one just wasn't sure if Kayla would be the right fit for the position. She is my girlfriend's best friend it could cause issues in the future but that could just be my last trying to make an appearance once again. I shrug off the feeling and call Kayla.

"Hello?"

"Hey Kayla, it's Christian, Natasha's partner, she told me that you had mentioned becoming my personal assistant, would you be interested in coming in today and having an interview." I try to be right to the point.

"Oh Christian, I'd love to come in and have an interview with you." She said in a very breathy almost whisper.

"You wouldn't be taking the interview with me it would be with someone in my Human Resources Department what time would be best for you?"

"I'll be there at 2pm" she said in an almost annoyed tone but I didn't think about it much.

"Perfect I'll go down to Human Resources and set it up for you."

I hang up the phone as I start walking down the long corridor to HR and set up the interview as well as a few other interviews. I didn't want her to be the only candidate so I posted an ad online and got quite a few responses pretty quickly.

I spoke with Bethany, who was the person appointed to conducting the interviews today.

"Will you pay close attention to a miss Kayla for me please, she is my partners friend and I'd like to know everything there is to know about her."

"I'd definitely do that for you Mr. Lovius, you should walk to Kyle in tech support to do a more in depth search on her."

I nodded and waved bye as walking out the door of her office. Walking up to tech support floor I was stopped by Phillip in the hallway.

"Kayla would be the perfect candidate to be your personal assistant. I hope she gets the job."

I just smiled and walked away. That was weird. Anyway. I spoke with Kyle in tech and he is going to dig up her entire life for me. I can't just have anyone be my personal assistant for a number of reasons.
