Shattered Ice

Chapter 1

Lucy POV:

I was sitting at the bar talking to Mira on an ordinary day, you know the usual fight between Natsu and Gray in which Erza gets involved somehow and they both end up hurting? Yeah that kind of normal day. Mira was going on and on about shipping Levy and Gajeel together and I cared for the first two minutes of the conversation but after she started coming up with baby names I kinda just started to pretend to listen. At some point in time while I was staring into space apparently Gray came over and sat next to me. I came back to reality and just as he notices, he clears his throat "Lucy wanna go on a quest?" I smile and nod "Yeah sure, let me get Natsu" I start to get up but he grabs my hand "No...um I meant alone, Just us" He turns bright red and I feel myself do so too. I swallow some spit out of nervousness and nod again "Yeah, that'd be cool lets go get a job then" I grab his hand back and drag him over to the job board. We look over all the jobs and of course I totally dismissed all the easiest jobs because I wanted to get stronger and spend more time with Gray. Our hands soared all over the board until they met in the middle and touched each other. I looked up at him and he looked at me and then we both looked at the job that our hands landed on. I started to read it out loud "Help our village! 50 monsters have been terrorizing us. Monsters are strong so be careful" I smile at him and he smiles back. He takes the job off the board and hands it to Mira and she happily hands it back over "Be safe you two." She gives us a warm smile before sending us on our way. Natsu and Happy were too busy stuffing their faces to notice that we left.

We got to the train station after getting our stuff together, Gray was leaning on a pillar and I was sitting on the ground next to him "Gray out of all of our team members, why chose me? I'm the weakest..." I look at the ground sadly and he crouches down to my height and whispers in my ear "You're definitely not weak, you're stronger than you may think. You just have to unlock all of your power." I smile at his words and kiss his cheek "Thanks Gray..." I stand up and the train sounds off, letting us know that it's time to get on. We get on and I seem a bit tired so Gray pats his lap, I smile and take his offer happily. I lay on his lap and before the train even begins to move, I'm out like a light. I don't know if I was dreaming or not but I heard Gray speaking to me "I love you Lucy, I'll protect you. I promise you..." I feel a warm kiss on my cheek and I smile in my sleep.
