This is the first party I ever go to and it's completely different from what I had imagined parties to be. In my head, I had a glamorous image nurtured by all the American movies I had seen. This is nothing like what that at all. Sure there's the classical loud music and the red cups but there isn't any grinding on the dance floor or people making out in a corner. There are a lot of people crowding the stairs so I walk down carefully as to not trip over the steps. Wearing heels outside of your comfort zone can be really nerve wrecking and when I say comfort zone I mean my room. With the doors closed. I take tiny steps in my boyfriend jeans and sigh in relief when I arrive in the basement in one piece.

"Heyyy!" A slurred voice startles me. "What's with your clothes?" Layla seems to have sobered up ever so slightly. She looks me up and down before walking away with the beer bottle in her hand.

"What was that?" Annie appears beside me with a scowl on her face. Her purple dress bouncing slightly with her movements.

"On second thought, I think I want to leave." I turn around just as a hand grabs mine.

"Isha! Where are you going? Did you just arrive? I didn't see you."  One touch and it melts my heart. I smile like a retard at Amit.

"Yeah, I just got here but, uhm, I think I'm going to leave." I turn my attention to my feet.

"Don't pay attention to her, Isha. That girl is as smart as her beer bottle." Annie tells me.

"Did anyone say anything to you? Don't listen, 'cause frankly, you look really pretty. I mean usually, you're not. But today you do. Whatever!" He seems frustrated and I'm not sure if he just complimented me or insulted me.

"Good going Casanova." Annie shoves his shoulder before taking me away from the stairs to a bunch of chairs and a love seat put together. "This is your first party so let me make it fun for you." She gives me a look that puts me in my spot as she slowly struts to wherever.

The atmosphere is pretty lively as the song changes to another mainstream one that has been playing on the radio one too many times. I look down at my outfit which consisted of a washed up light blue boyfriend jeans and a mint green, three-quarter sleeved top. I don't have a lot of dressy outfits and it was only the thought of Amit being here that motivated me to dress up. Annie comes back with two red cups in her hands and a guy jumping up and down behind her.

"Here you go, take it easy." She hands me a cup as she takes a sip from her own cup. I copy her and wince a bit as the liquor burns on my tongue sweetly.

"Hey shortcake!" Blake Turner, a tall black haired guy from my grade greets me enthusiastically.  "How's the drink? I made it myself just for you"

"It makes me want to get another one!" I yell back at him as the music gets even louder. Laughing I take another sip enjoying the sweetness. "What is it?"

"Well, I know that you don't drink, so I put a heck load of orange juice and added a bit of vodka in it. And a bit of cranberry juice and peach liquor too, but I don't think you'll taste it."

"This type of mix is called alcohol poisoning, you know that right?" I smile at him.

"Not when it's made with love and moderation." He winks back at me and gives me a hug before plopping himself down next to me as we stare at the television where a bunch of guys are playing Mario Cart.

"He's really into you, you know that right?" Annie leans towards me and whispers in my ear.

"What are you even saying?" Blake is nice and all but he's way too good looking to lower his standards for someone like me. "He's so out of my league." I scoff at her.
