It's been a while since I've last slept through the night without waking up from nightmares. Yet something feels off. A heaviness, almost human seems to have settled on me. A loud grunt wakes me up. A loud manly grunt. Manly grunt. My eyes shoot open as I sit up quickly throwing whatever was on, off of me.
"Ahh! That hurts." He whines. I let out a frustrated moan. What happened last night. I look down at myself and wrap my blanket around me. I only have my bra on and my tight jeans from last night, with its buttons open. Quickly, my hand reaches to my side where a fresh bandage has been placed. I turn to Amit who is on the floor, without a shirt and with his jeans loosely hanging on his hips.
"What are you doing here? And half naked?" I yell at him before a wave of pain shoots through my head. I quickly bring my hand to my temple. "Ugh"
"You got drunk for the first time. " Amit smiles at me making me frown.
"Stop yelling." I hear Joshua's voice ring on the top bed. A sleepy moan is followed that sounds awfully like Danny's.
"Oh my God, please tell me we didn't have a foursome or something." I get off the bed, the sheets still wrapped around me. As I try to stand up, my legs give in and I feel myself falling. Amit comes to my rescue in time.
"No foursome, but we did have something." I gasp at his words and hit him on the head. "Just you and me cuddling together like you dreamed of since fourth grade." Blushing, I struggle out of his embrace and crawl my way to the bathroom half wobbling and half walking on all fours. Once in there I realize that I forgot to bring a towel. Why does it always happen to me?
"Danny!" I call out to her. "I forgot my towel! Danny!!" I stand quiet and anticipate her arrival. I hear someone, but it doesn't match the way Danny would walk. The doorknob opens and a shirtless Amit comes in. "Get out!"
"I've seen a lot, you can't possibly surprise me more." He says with a coy smile. I kick his shin and close the door on his nose. The painful scream is satisfactory so I take off what's left on me and soak in the shower. The bathroom is really the place to think and make decisions. It is also the place where you remember everything that happened the night before.
Annie had planned a night out, a girl's night out to be precise but Danny ended up inviting Joshua to join us and for some reason, a creature called Amit also arrived. We went to a club in downtown Montreal called Katakombs and had to take the line for about an hour. For that terrible hour, I had to listen to Amit tell Joshua about me when I was in elementary and in high school as if he knew me forever. Technically, he did know me since childhood, but definitely not forever. It bothered me greatly how he described my habits and likes especially when I spent those years thinking he did not see me. My eyes would follow him and his eyes followed Laila or some other thin waisted chick.
Soon we arrived in front of the bouncer who took me apart and starting asking me questions as if I was not supposed to be here. I looked at him blable all the necessary questions when you're trying to send away an underage even before he asked me for my age. Then, when he finished his God-awful speech and his eyes met mine, I showed him my ID card and sauntered away with what was left of my dignity. Once inside the club, surprise surprise, Connor, Shankar and the twins were there. Needless to say, Connor tried to dry hump any female willing to give him a chance, he even challenged me to a shots competition with him knowing that I was bad with alcohol. Yet, like a fool, I agreed. And I drank and won the challenge, but also never stood up again. I remember trying to get out of my chair and falling and I also remember that Shankar came to save me on time.
The rest of the night was a blur of bad memories like Amit holding me in his arms as Danny drove my car. When we reached our house and I wanted to hug the guys goodbye, Amit held me back and took me inside and he even dared to enter the bedroom. I remember hastily taking my top off, fixing my bandage and I also remember him trying to kiss me. That might be when I said those weird things about liking him for being so unique and unafraid of being himself.
Pulling my hair in frustration, I leave the safety of the bathroom, tightly holding the towel around my body. The room is empty to my surprise and I find a note on the bedpost saying everyone else is at Amit's place. He's making breakfast. Amit can't cook to save his life that much I remember. I grab myself some clothes and towel dry my hair.
"Too bad, so sad," I say loudly before going into the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. More like brunch. I cook some eggs and fry some chicken stripes, making enough for at least four people. After setting up the table, I seat myself down and bring my coffee mug to my lips. The aroma relaxes me just as I hear people approaching the front door. Sigh. I cross my arms while Danika, Joshua and Amit slowly fill up the empty chairs.
"On second thought, we're going to eat here." Danny declares before digging in.
"Sure, I don't judge." I look at Amit who scratches the back of his head.
"Yeah, my skills haven't quite improved. You have to teach me." He smiles taking a bite.
"No. Please don't come back to my house again." I say before getting up to get some cream for my coffee.
"I'll be back in a blink of an eye." Amit plasters an annoying grin on his face making me frown. Rolling my eyes I take a seat just as my phone rings from the other room. Excusing myself, I rush to get it and return to the kitchen.
"Hey, Shan curry!" I greet the male on the other line. Amit makes some sort of caveman noise, but I ignore it.
"How are you this morning? Does your head hurt? Did you eat something? Do you want me to bring you breakfast?" He talks fast making me laugh.
"Relax, I'm fine, headache's gone and I made breakfast."
"Oh, okay. Good." His responses go back to being short and straight to the point.
"The twins are leaving for Edmonton today. Do you want to say bye?" Shankar informs me.
"Yeah sure. I'll get ready. When are they leaving?"
"At five in the afternoon. And I wanna take you out after." He says, his voice going a tone lower.
"Is that a date?" A hand is slammed down on the table and I realize it's Amit's. I frown at his fuming expression. "Or is it a mission?"
"We'll decide when we get there."
" Alright, fine. Bye." I laugh into the phone.
"Bye." He hangs up. I turn to Joshua.
"The twins are leaving."
"Oh yeah, are you going?" He asks.
"Of course I am!" I answer back as we resume eating our breakfast. "When are you leaving? I thought you were only staying to sightsee Montreal." I ask Joshua.
"Oh, I thought I'd stay a few more days." He laughs nervously.
"Because you hooked up with my best friend?" I glare at him as Danny chokes on her juice. Joshua goes to help her as I lean in my chair crossing my arms as I watch them intently. "We're going to have a talk about this later."
"What are you, my mother?" Danny coughs out her face beet red.
"In her absence yes."Replying to her, I gather my plates.
"Where are you going?" Amit asks with a heavy frown on his face. I ignore his question and get up. After washing my plate, I go into the room to get ready.
