"You remember when you invited me to come watch you sing the national anthem at that baseball game? God you were like 12." Arina says, laying her head in Taylor's lap after spooning some apple sauce into her mouth. Apple sauce has been a everyday meal, and though it's not much, she can run down the hall without instantly panting and color has began to come back to her face.
Even with all of this, and how proud her parents and friends are, is it wrong she doesn't really wanna get better? Even if they didn't, she liked her sick body.
Taylor chuckles, nodding her head. "It was the first time we ever talked. You had come over for Austin's birthday party, and I asked if you wanted to come."
"I felt so special. I guess I thought you were pretty or something." Arina teases, a small smile gracing her face. The blonde smirks, shrugging as she shoots back, "Don't feel special. I was just so excited and I wanted anyone- who was willing- to come see it." Her friend shakes her head with a giggle, smacking her gently on the arm.
Arina chooses not to mention that Taylor was her first crush. it may not have been huge, because she didn't know she was a lesbian, but they'd almost gotten separated in a crowd and the blonde had gripped her hand and told her it was okay and she'd protect her. She probably doesn't remember that, and Arina wont force her to.
Andrea couldn't come today, but she trusted Taylor to go visit Arina in the hospital alone. They've been talking more and more everyday, even sharing a few smiles, and Arina no longer looks ready to beat the shit out of her every time they speak.
So it's just them, playing guard games until it was breakfast time. Taylor didn't expect her to eat. She never eats in front of them- much less at all, so she was happily surprised to see the girl take a deep breath before squeezing her eyes shut and eat part of her watery eggs.
"Yeah...speaking of singing," Taylor starts, and for a second, Arina is so scared she's about to tell her she's changed her mind and is leaving for that record deal. "I get to play a concert at Grand Ole Opry. You know, where we went to see LeAnn Rimes?"
Arina gasps, a grin taking over her face as she sits up and begins to practically bounce in her seat. "Taylor! You stupid girl! Why did you wait to tell me?! That's amazing!" She pulls the surprised singer into a tight hug, swaying back and forth as she rushes out, "Can you get me a ticket? I wanna be there! That's so huge!"
Taylor chuckles softly, shrugging. She doesn't want to say it out loud, but that concert is in four days, and it's not exactly likely Arina will be out of here by then. As if reading her mind, the poet practically deflates of any happiness, looking around the gray and boring room with a sigh. Right. Psych ward.
"Maybe...maybe we can work something out. You said Dr Know It All is already planning a day for you to go home? I can try and push back the date of the concert." She attempts, wanting the smile back. She needs her to keep smiling.
Arina just shrugs, eating some more apple sauce as she reads her comic book. Okay. So she's deflecting. Just perfect.
Finally Taylor gives up, just staring at her while the girl puts a cassette tape in the case and presses play for the music to fill her headphones. The most recent tape, "Baby Love" by the Supremes, is one Taylor had in her own collection. Arina likes it, and she joked at one point the singer had given it to her because she wants them to kiss and make up.
Taylor won't tell her that is the exact reason she gave it to her.
"I'll play every song I sing at the concert for you when you're home. Give you a personal concert. One no one else is invited to. I'll sing you any song you want." The singer eventually offers after a few minutes of silence. Arina looks up from her comic book, a small smile forming as she bites her nails.
