In the heart of New York, where the air was thick with the scent of rain and the sky growled with lighting coming down heavily, there was someone running down the street to get away and try to survive while there was another walking in the rain trying to escape the thoughts running through her head, but they were destined to meet in the most unexpected of ways.

Nyx was a soldier, hardened by her family and scarred by the memories of countless beatings by her family. She had run out of the house it was a necessity to escape, a young woman driven by the need to escape and survive her family. Years of conflict had turned her once vibrant eyes into dead ones nothing to brighten them but the blood in them. Nyx moved through life with the precision of a clockwork soldier, every action calculated, every emotion tucked away behind a mask.

In her head, nestled in a book trying to escape that had miraculously helped her almost escape the reality of the addictions, lived from couch to couch, a poet whose words could weave the most of emotion. Her poems spoke of love, darkness, depression and addiction of the natural world things that seemed increasingly rare in those dark times. Star's verses were a sanctuary for the mind a reminder that there was still an escape for her in the world, even if it seemed dim and never escaped her head.

One fateful evening, Nyx finally escaped and ran directly into a girl who looked gone but beautiful at the same time Fuck Damit she cursed as she franticly tried to pick up her book I'm sorry It's fine I should have watched where I was going. Ah I fucked your book up the least I can do is buy you coffee. Hm I really can't pass that up can we go now? Sure, let's go we can maybe become friends

Even though the soldier offered to go to the coffee shop her defenses were up and prepared for the possibility of an attack mentally, Nyx found herself drawn to the small girl whereas Star kept reading her poetry to the girl feeling comfortable in those eyes which brightens up every time she looked her way. She sat on the edge of the seat, a silent tear started down her cheek, her eyes fixed on the young woman whose voice soared like lighting but like the calm before the storm.

Star noticed the soldier starting to cry and grabbed her hand rubbing it softly, her demeanor started to change slowly getting up and walking over to her sitting next to her she leaned on her shoulder enjoying the silence and comfort she got after 18 years who had seen far too much of the world's cruelties. Despite the evident differences in their lives, she felt a pull towards her, an unspoken connection that defied logic.

After the moment, Nyx spoke to Star, her heart pounding in her chest. "You seem troubled," she said softly, her eyes searching hers for some sign of the woman gaze made her lower her guard. "When you at war with your family it does that to a person," she replied, her voice soft but rough with the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Stars nodded, understanding more than she could know. "Would you talk with me more? I want to know a place where the world feels a little less like a depressive episode.

Intrigued and strangely compelled, Nyx agreed. They talked through the noise of the cafe, past the walls and the blank eyes as they started brightening more as they talked. Star led her to a safe place where a clear mind was found from both of them, and something blossoming in hues of blue and purple.

"This is where I want come to find peace," Star said, her voice barely above a whisper. It's where I write my poetry to. I want to be here with you to.

Nyx stayed right by her listening to her speak softly and listening to her heartbeat as it flowed almost in the opposite of hers. Your beautiful, she murmured, feeling a strange sense of calm settle over her.

They spent hours in the coffee shop sharing stories of their "good times". Star spoke of her "dreams'' and her love for the poetry of the world, while Nyx recounted tales of battles and the childhood she had lost. Through their conversations, they found solace in each other's presence, a rare and precious gift in such turbulent times.

Weeks Later...

As the days turned into weeks, Nyx and Star continued to meet in the coffee shop, their bond growing stronger with each passing moment. Stars poetry began to reflect the depth of her feelings for Star, and she found herself writing verses that spoke of Nyx in such a that was both sweet and well were not going to talk about that part.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the world in a golden glow, Nyx took Stars hand in her own. "You've shown me a world that's better when your around you've showed me that you don't always need to fight with a sword but also fight with a voice and a pen or not fight at all," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "You've given me hope."

Star smiled, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. And you've shown me the strength of a person this horrid world even with your dimmed eyes they still glow, Nyx. Together, we can face whatever comes our way or whoever comes our way.

In that moment, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the caffe, the soldier and the poet found a love that transcended into more than just friends and more than a horrible past. Their hearts beat in the opposite attracting to each other, a testament to the enduring power of hope and the unbreakable bond they had gained over time.

As the world still spined and the weather raged on around them, Nyx and Star continued to meet in their sacred haven, drawing strength from each other and dreaming of a future that soon came into life finally finding a place together where peace would reign, and love would prevail.
