"Im sleepy" whined Reika, curling up into a ball on the ground as Iwashi looked down at her with a casual facial, observing her. In the other hand, Yaguchi just looked forward with a frustrated look on his face as he mourned with a scowl
(What a nuisance) thought Yaguchi, his hands inside his pockets as he made a pestered face with his body language being slightly leaned back
"You 3 have become genins, that's true, but are you truly qualified to become a shinobi or are you 3 just a bunch of kids who strive for the minimum with the false belief of ever accomplishing something great in life" Nishiroma said seriously, her posture straight as she looked down at the 3 kids, awaiting their answers
"That's controversial, what even is the point if the end goal is the same... I thought shinobis were to stay vigilant and never reveal their maximum potential" Reika answered
"She was speaking about your mentality, she's saying the journey is much more important than the end goal. Say you had no improvement but just got carried by your team to success, that's feeder" Iwashi explained calmly, looking down at Reika
"I just don't understand why one should put 100% on everything they're doing if... well... there are others who could do that? Just conserve your energy" Reika questioned
"That's the words of a narcissist" Yaguchi spoke in disbelief of the girl's mentality
"Well everyone's a narcissist in this world...some are just simply bigger than the others." Reika debated
(It's just getting worse with these 3) thought Nishiroma, shaking her head in slight disappointment as she crossed her arms and looked at them with a more critical gaze
"You, Iwashi, what do you think" she then asked as she looked at him, the more mature one out of the bunch
"Well, what I'm getting from that is that Reika seems to question the importance of going overboard in every task, which can lead her to the idea if it's really worth putting so much effort into every minor chore or task. Her philosophy seems to be more about practicality and efficient effort, which isn't... bad..." Iwashi explained calmly, giving an answer which seemed reasonable
"How about you, Yaguchi? What are your thoughts on her perspective?" Nishiroma then turned her gaze to the younger boy, curious about his answer
"Philosophies are overrated. If you want something then just fight for it." He said with his hands inside his pockets with a general rude face
"What a straightforward answer."
she looked at Reika, who was on the ground, still curled up in a ball and looked as if she was napping
Nishiroma: (This girl is still sleepy, is she even taking this whole conversation seriously?)
Nishiroma: Now that's enough chit-chat. Today you 3 will be entering the forest of death...
Reika: I thought only chunins and above could go inside?
Nishiroma nodded, confirming Reika's assumption
"That's correct, normally only Chunins and above are allowed in the Forest of Death. However, there are rare exceptions and circumstances where genin teams are permitted entry under certain conditions."
Nishiroma leaned forward, her expression growing more serious as she continued. "Your team is one such exception. You see, out of the 28 graduates that just came here, only 10 will be going to be accepted as genin, the other 18 will be weeded out and will be sent back to the academy, In other words, it's a make it or break it pass fail test and the chance you'll fail is at least 66%. This is a special mission for this team — a survival exercise which will truly determine if you're well suited to become a genin. If I don't deem you worthy then you 3 will be sent back to the academy."
