002.

"So, Armin, are you excited for your coronation in a few months? I know you weren't technically suppose to be king, hmm?" Your mother asked, her tone cheerier than usual. Armin took a long sip of his drink before nodding, "Yes. It's a big step, and one I didn't know I was to be taking." Armin replied, looking over and giving your dad a deadly glare as he finished the last sentence. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as you watched both your father and Armin give one another stares, their eyes full of unspoken words. Last year, Armin's older sister, Alia, stepped down from being queen. She had been preparing for years and was to be next in line before she abdicated 6 months before her coronation without a word or explanation.

The whole country was shocked and devastated to say the least. She would've been the first female monarch for your country in over 100 years and she gave it all away and didn't care to explain to anybody. Since Armin was the second and last child of King Azreal (Armin's dad and current king), he was the only hope for his family taking the throne and he had no other option than to agree. No one could really tell if he wanted the role king but no one really asked either. It was silent for a moment, the room feeling cold and lonely as Armin and your dad exchanged glares. "Ahem." You cleared your throat trying to break the ice between them as the chills from their gazes became too much to handle. "So, Armin, how is your sister doing?" You questioned, turning to Armin with a smile. Unlike him, you could atleast try and play nice.
