Vaggys pov
"And this is the bedrooms and this is the bathroom and this is the coffee stain I left from carrying a stack of books and a Starbucks, funny story"
I nodded politely as Charlie excitedly showed me around that rinky dink hotel. You gotta give it to her, that enfusiasum of hers is something to admire but it doesn't make this hotel of her's look less like a shit hole!
I stopped at a large portrait of the wall. It showed a picture of Charlie when she was about twelve-thirteen with a tall blonde woman in a black dress and a short blond man in a white suit and top hat. They must be Charlie's mother and...
Lucifer.
Charlie froze "Charlie are you alright-"
"I'm fine" she said quickly "it's just me and my parents don't have the best relationship"
"Really?" I looked at her surprised "you spoke so highly of your mother"
"And it was true but she's been gone a while now. She left without so much as a goodbye and my dad hasn't been a part of my life since I was a kid" she hugged herself, a look of sadness and vulnerability was evident in her eyes.
"I'm sorry Charlie" I placed a hand on her shoulder "but at the very least I'm not going anywhere"
She tears up before engulfing me in her bear hug "thanks vaggie. That means more to me than you could ever know"
I smiled as I hugged her back. Same to you Charlie.
