This is the first time a Main Roster Title is being defended in NXT, and the fans are eager for the match. Even more than the main event between NXT Women's Champion Bayley and Eva Marie.
Soon, both men hit a collar-elbow tie-up, but Apollo easily took him down with a headlock as he held him down. Michael then counters it by rolling it into a front headlock. Apollo gets up and lifts Michael and tosses him off the hold, but Michael landed on his feet.
Crews charged at him, but Michael hits an Arm Drag and looks in a armlock. Apollo grunts but managed to turn up to his knee before countering the hold and hitting a Arm Toss. Apollo tries to grab him, but Michael hits a overhead kick, stunning him. Michael kips up before hitting an Enziguri on Crews.

Michael gets and went to the ropes for a Clothesline, but Apollo ducks under it, bounces off the ropes, before hitting a Jumping Back Elbow. Apollo goes for the cover, but Michael kicks out.
Apollo then locks in a headlock as Michael struggles from the hold. Apollo held tight as the crowd chanted for Michael. Soon, Michael slowly gets up and starts punching Apollo in the stomach to break the hold. Apollo then hits a Headbutt before sending him out of the ring.
Apollo gets on the apron and went for a Moonsault, but Michael caught him in mid air, getting a pop by this display of strength. Michael then hits Snake Eyes on Crews onto the apron.

Michael soon picks up Apollo who then drives him against the barricade. He starts hitting several forearms and went for a Irish Whip, but Counters and knees Apollo, gets a forearm, but gives head a headbutt to Crews before sending him face first on the ring post.
Michael enters the ring and exits to restart the count. He then returns the rings and steps back. He measures Apollo on the outside as he runs, jumps on the top rope and hits a Diving Moonsault onto Apollo Crews, getting a massive reaction.
