I open the door to my home cautiously before I slide inside. Then, as usual I am greeted by my very excited and hyper dog.
"Well hello girl! How were you today?~" I spoke in my 'dog voice'. "How is my good doggy? C'mon girl, sit! Sit!" I sat down next to my golden retriever, Daisy as I began to rub her belly. "Do you know where Zaney is?" I asked my dog, though knowing she couldn't speak. Zaney was what I called my brother Zane, Zane Daniel Francis, every girl basically drooled over him. But at least I get every parent's approval. Dhanz 1, Zane 0. Just then a tall yet very familiar figure leaned on the doorway. "Why hello my lovely little sister." He teased. None other than Zane. "Hello Mr. Popular." I sneer. "Well, how was school today? Hm?" I roll my eyes at his tone. "It was okay... but, I think I have quite the problem." I sigh, lifting my hand up to my face, like those poses the damsels in distress makes.
"Well, Zy, as your very wise older brother, I am here to provide you some very good high school advice." He said smugly. 'Zy' was a nickname Zane had made for me. I still remember the origin of it clearly. It was in April, I was 10, he was 12. He was trying to call my name, but I had my headphones in and was listening to music on full volume in my room while playing with my toys. He was practically screaming my name, but each time all I heard was 'zy' because each time he yelled, it was very much emphasis on the 'zy'. Hence the nickname.
"Well, do you remember fifth grade? I mean— /MY/ fifth grade?" He raised a brow. "Yes, I do Zy." He paused for a second. "Why?"
"I was just about to go there!" I snap at my brother, rolling my eyes. "Well, there's this guy, Reece. Y'know the person I had to share half my awards with?" I tilt my head tentatively."Oh yeah, you had a crush on him right?" I cough abruptly, this was NOT the topic I intended.
"Let's not go there." I frown. "But, he's in my class again and... I don't think he likes me very much, and I hear from a very loyal friend of mine..."
"That he wants to be class president, and of course, I need a bit more recognition... do you think I should run on a whim against him? Carm says the election won't be for another few months."
He holds stares at Daisy for a bit before speaking. "If i'm gonna be honest with you, Zy, I want you to run for it. I could even tell some friends about you, y'know about how big of an overachiever you are. I have connections all around the school." He smirks.
My eyes lit up. "Really? That would be great Zane!" I smile up at my brother.
"Anything for my little sister, I am of course the best of the best given who I am." He brags which wipes the smile off my face.
"Yeah yeah, i'm gonna go to my room now. Have fun Mr. Popular." I tease before going into my room, and plopping onto the bed.
