Me and Reece had to find our own members for our debate, and it is unfortunately scheduled near graduation, for a 'Grand victory'.
I make my way to lunch where I am greeted with sudden noise. Okay, I mean, since it's the cafeteria I should've expected that. But do I still hate it? Of course!
I scan the tables when my brother suddenly grabs my arm. "What are you doing?" I yelp.
"You're sitting with us, you need recognition if you want to run for president." he replies, dragging me to a table with his friends. I sit down next to my brother and glance at Leo and Pat. I was just about to wonder where Zeke was when, "Dhanzielle! You're here again!" he greets.
"Yeah. I am." I reply with a sigh. The whole, storming to Reece this morning distracted me. It made me thing of all the possible arguments and come backs I could have made at that given moment, but alas it was too late.
I look around, and sure enough, stares were making their way over to the table where I sat with my brother. —Woo me!— I turn back to my brother, "I won't be having problems with people for being seen with you guys right?" I ask cautiously, I didn't know how my brother acted around his... what's the word? Fellows? Whatever.
"Well, if anyone ever dared to even look at you with the slightest of distaste, they would find themselves in the school nurse faster than flash." My brother says in a matter of fact tone. I roll my eyes as I chuckled.
"Erm, Can you get me some lunch?" I ask my brother innocently, batting my eyelashes. He stares at me before huffing a 'No' which has me pouting.
"You're the one who dragged me here before letting me get food!" I argue.
"Don't fear Zy-" Zeke starts to say, but Zane glares and slaps him on the shoulder. "What the hell dude?!" he asks.
"Don't call her that." My brother deadpans. And I groan, growing impatient.
"Well, as I was saying." Zeke narrows his eyes at my brother, "Don't fear Dhanz! I can get you some food." he winked before getting up to go to the line.
My brother sighs and mutters, "I'm gonna have to talk to him later..." I glance at him and ask, "Why?" I'm confused... my brother used to always brag about his friends to my mother, why was he acting like this with Zeke?
"Nothing you need to worry about Zy." he answers and I narrow my eyes. My brother was never vague.
After about 5 minutes, Zeke plops down next to me and slides a tray which consists of fried chicken, fries and coke. I smile and dig in quickly. I was hungry!
When I was done chowing on my food, I look up to find Zeke looking at me. "Uh, thanks for getting the food for me." I say. I take a sip of my coke and look around the cafeteria. I spot Reece sitting with Julian as usual, but they were also sitting with a couple of other guys. I roll my eyes for some reason, I don't even know why I did it. I pick up the empty tray and tell my brother that I was just gonna go throw it away.
My eyes look around, trying to spot where I could put it, and when I finally found it, it just had to be behind Reece's table. Lucky me.
Whatever, why should I be afraid of going near him? He was just some kid who was rude. And plus I needed to move or else i'd look like a fool just standing there with an empty tray in my hands.
I made my way to the trash bin, and just as I was about to pass there table I heard, "Isn't that the new transfer?" someone asks. I keep walking though. It was just a question, no harm. But another one pipes up, "Her name's Dhanzielle or something, very annoying, trust me." Oh. Reece. I look over my shoulder just as I reach the bin, I see them staring and I look back at the bin before staring right at Reece's face.
"Oh my, jeez, I almost couldn't differentiate which was Reece and which was the bin." I say before throwing my empty tray and scurrying back to Zane's table. I wasn't usually like that, I always wanted everyone to get a long. I never would have said anything like that unless I was beside myself. I steal one last glance back at Reece's table to see him glaring at me as if I had murdered a pet of his or something.
Man, if only he hadn't been so good looking I would laugh and taunt him more... but instead I felt a shiver run down my spine as I took in hid face. This is delusional. It is. Then why do you keep daydreaming and thinking about it? I'm not sure. You should stop. But why? Because-
"Dhanz?" I hear Zane's voice and I blink myself back to reality. I need to pull myself together, and stop thinking about Reece. He is just a distraction. I turn back to my brother and sit back down again.
I stare at the table for a while when Zeke finally speaks, "Is Montgomery bothering you?" Montgomery... oh!
"Reece? No, no... he's not." Zeke looks like he doesn't believe me, but he doesn't push any further.
