I slammed the door behind me and locked it, my hands trembling. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst out of my chest. The events of the night replayed in my mind, each memory more horrifying than the last. I stumbled to my bedroom, locking that door too, before collapsing onto my bed, trying to process everything.

Celeste was a vampire. There was no other explanation for what I'd seen. But why had she saved me from that other vampire? Who were those people? Was it all a trap? Did Celeste know they'd be there? And what did she mean by "You're mine"?

My thoughts were a chaotic whirlpool of fear and confusion. I needed answers, but the only person who could give them to me was the same person who terrified me.

As I sat there, I noticed a sharp pain in my leg. I looked down to see a big, fresh cut still dripping with blood. Panic surged through me as I realized I needed medical help. I stood up, intending to drive to the hospital, but as I reached the front door, it flew open, and Celeste grabbed my arm.

"No!" I screamed, trying to pull away. "Let me go! Help! Someone, help me!"

Celeste's face was a mask of emotionless determination as she dragged me back to her apartment. She ignored my screams, her grip unyielding. Once inside, she locked the door and looked down at my bleeding leg.

"Please," I begged, tears streaming down my face. "Please, don't hurt me."

Celeste bent down on one knee in front of me, her eyes piercing into mine. She held my chin gently but firmly. "Calm down, Rose," she said in a low, soothing voice.

"Calm down?" I snapped, anger flaring through my fear. "I could have died tonight! I want to know what your intentions are. What are you?"

Celeste's expression remained calm. "My intentions were to kill you, Rose," she said, her voice chillingly calm. "Because we have formed a blood bond. When a vampire drinks the blood of a human, it creates a bond that prevents the vampire from drinking anyone else's blood. The only way to break the bond is for the human to die."

My mind reeled. "So you're tied to me? You wanted to kill me to break the bond, but you didn't. Why?"

Celeste was silent for a moment, her eyes unreadable. Then she glanced at my leg. "Your leg is still bleeding. You need medical attention."

She stood up and walked towards the bathroom. As soon as she turned her back, I made a break for the door, but she caught me easily. Her grip was like iron as she pulled me back and tied my hands together with a piece of rope.

"Don't even try," she warned, her voice icy.

She returned with a first aid kit and knelt beside me, carefully cleaning the wound on my leg. Despite my fear and anger, I couldn't help but notice the gentleness in her touch. A moan of pain escaped my lips, and I saw a flicker of something in her eyes-temptation, desire, and something else I couldn't quite identify.

"Why didn't you kill me?" I whispered, the question hanging heavily in the air.

Celeste looked at me, her eyes filled with a mix of frustration and something softer. She stayed silent for a moment, then simply said, "I couldn't."

She resumed tending to my wound, her face a mask of concentration. I watched her, still scared and confused, but also strangely fascinated. What was it that prevented her from killing me?

Celeste tied the last knot on the bandage and looked up at me. "You need to rest," she said softly. "We'll talk more in the morning."

I nodded, too exhausted to argue. As she helped me to the couch, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was no longer my own. I was now part of a world I barely understood, with a bond that tied me to a vampire who was both my protector and my captor.

Sleep came quick, my dreams filled with dark figures and blood. And through it all, Celeste's eyes haunted me, filled with a longing I couldn't decipher.
